Contractor was hired on the recommendation of realtor.  We purchased home from out of state and real estate broker helped manage the work being done.  Contractor emphasized "saving us money".  He would argue with us about things we wanted and since we were not from Colorado we acquiesced to his recommendations and did not end up with what we really wanted.  We also had him build a 4 stall barn with tack room.  He claimed to be "horse savvy" yet many things in the constructing of the barn was not horse friendly.  ie electrical outlets that protruded out at dangerous levels creating potential injury to the horses; interiors tack room doors opened in wrong direction;  low quality hinges and hardware that broke in short periods of time in both garage and barn.  Permits were not pulled for either project so inspections by county inspector was never performed on the barn.  Garage was built over the 50' easement line.  Punch list was never attended to and many items were never fixed/corrected.  Other contractors were hired to complete repairs.  A dispute over the return of materials resulted from contractor not returning product.  Contractor filed a mechanics lien, outside of the legal timeframe, because he paid.  Contractor responded to us unprofessionally making immature statements and refused to come to the property because we demanded that the work be done in a professional manner.  The entire experience was awful.
