In the summer of 2008 I faced the daunting task of fixing up and selling my mother's house from a distance. Upon a recommendation, I contacted Liz Bailey. The house was sound, but needed paint, carpet, and landscape work. She recommended that I "update" the kitchen and make the house "move-in ready" to sell in this market. On the strength of my verbal promise to list with her, she helped me find honest, reliable contractors to do this work. I could not be personally on-scene, but she gave access to the contractors, monitored the work, and reported developments to me. My only involvement was to approve the quotations and pay the contractors directly. The work went smoothly and I never suffered a sleepless night because of any concerns in Pueblo that summer. The work was completed by early fall 2008 and we listed the property. Although we elected not to "stage" the house with rented furniture, Liz made it more attractive with towels, baskets, etc., of her own. Not much action occurred that fall. We allowed the listing to lapse in the winter of 2009. We relisted in the spring. In April someone made an offer at our asking price, with some unrealistic demands attached. Liz expertly negotiated the sale, without agreeing to any of the buyer's additional demands. Liz was on-time for the two face-to-face meetings we held, and instantly apprised me of developments as they transpired. She and I were able to use email effectively as our primary communication tool. She procduced good market studies and was able to anticipate my questions, as I was inexperienced in matters associated with real estate transactions. Looking back, I daresay that Liz made the process of preparing and selling a 1500-miles-distant house "easy." I would engage her again if I ever need to transact real estate business in Pueblo.
Description of Work: Shortly after the national and local housing market tanked, I engaged Broker Associate Elizabeth Bailey to sell my mother's house in Pueblo, Colorado. The house needed work, the market was rapidly filling with forclosures, and I was located 1500 miles away.
