My experience couldn't have been better. John Henze responded promptly to my request for an estimate and was able to begin the work within a reasonable period of time. There was a lot of carpentry work involved in this project which he completely beautifully. As with most remodeling projects, a number of surprises arose along the way. John was able to handle these in a creative, effective and budget-friendly manner. He worked well with other contractors (hardwood floor refinisher, painter, fireplace installer) to get the job done as efficiently as possible even when this created scheduling conflicts for himself.
John Henze is professional, knowledgable and wonderful to work with. He did a fabulous job on this project and I am absolutely thrilled with the results. Without question, I would hire him again and have no reservations about recommending him to family and friends.
They look terrific and much less expensive than new shutters.
Definitely would use again.
included an under-sink cabinet, a second cabinet and a built-in
bookshelf. The previous owner had installed a nice tile counter top
above the sink, but the cabinet underneath was a complete after-thought.
It looked terrible. We called another place, and without even looking
at it, they said it would be impossible to upgrade the cabinet without
ripping out the counter top. And then we called Mr. Henze. He came out,
said the job was possible (which was what I thought) and gave us a
very reasonable estimate. He ripped out the built-ins and completely
redid them in a beautiful cherry. I had hopes for what it might look
like, but the finished product was better than I dreamed. It is
gorgeous!
The first two doors we got from Lowe's were junk; one was missing a part, the second wouldn't close. We had to take those back (two separate trips to Lowe's), and ended up getting a different model from Home Depot. The first one we got there opened the wrong direction, so we had to take that one back as well. Finally, on the fourth try, we got the right door. (None of this was John's fault; he was very understanding of the situation.)
After we got the right door, we found out the old door had been installed incorrectly, so that created a lot of unanticipated adjustments. We even had to take some of the boards back to John's shop to plane them down to the correct size. Still never a word of complaint.
When it was all said and done, we have a door that looks and works great, and my wife is super-happy with the results. And if she's happy, I'm happy.
We would recommend John without hesitation for any work you need done in your house. Great guy, great prices and a great work ethic.
