Addition to Existing Structure Building Service
Beware of this contactor! We hired Mike Fowler to complete an addition of a family room and kitchen. We met with Mike and talked through what we wanted to do including a strict budget of $150K that we were working with. He assured us that he could accommodate our project and budget. We paid him $23K as a down payment and we agreed to weekly labor costs of $6K which in the end would total the $150K. The project started at the beginning of 8/24 and was to be completed by 11/1/24. The first red flag was that we noticed he and his crew never put in full weeks. They averaged 3 working days and not even full days at that, but Mike was always here on Friday to collect his weekly payment. Other red flags began to surface as well - such as he never pulled the building permit and collected $8K for doors he could not produce a receipt for (we would later find out he never purchased the doors). This man will gain your trust, seems kind, unassuming, and will promise things he cannot deliver.

Hired Mike on here back in May to do a small ~100sq ft basement kitchen project with no urgency but was told he could have it done in a few weeks, I even got all the major parts. He had good reviews, was friendly, local and reasonably priced but first red flag was he didn't get me a contract in writing after asking him several times before starting work but I went along with it. He was constantly later than he said he would be or not even show up at all. Finally in July we tried getting a timeframe laid out for him to finish it when it went into August he practically begged us for more money so that he could pay the subcontractor (at this point almost 90% of the total estimated amount), another red flag but we obliged with the understanding it would be completed by the end of the month. By late September and many delays later, he said he wouldn't be able to finish it anytime soon. We mutually agreed to end it if he paid some of the money back that we overpaid, which I am still waiting on. Over the past 3 months he's repeatedly said there would be a check in the mail within a few days. Oh also heard he didn't pay the subcontractor as well after I specifically paid him more money to do just that. He seems either incompetent with time/money management OR he picks and chooses which people to take advantage of. So it took him 6 months to install 2 cabinets, a sink, flooring all of which I ordered and picked up the material and minor plumbing, probably a weekend project for someone competent.

"I?m very sorry they feel this way. It was absolutely not a weekend project for anyone. When I started the project, I asked Mr. Brad 3 times if he was in a rush since I had 2 other large jobs going and he said he was absolutely in no hurry, so I took the project. He also added a new light over the wetbar and additional electrical work, closet opening and closing drywall work, that changed the amount of scope of work. It wasn?t at all minor plumbing. The water lines and drain line connections had to be run under the floor in the crawl space a distance of 30 ft and was professionally installed. There was no misuse of money for his project and in fact, with all the additional work of closing in the closet, drywalling and electrical the price was only $1,000 more than the original estimate when started. The project was completed with quality work and much less expensive."

We are very happy with the shiplap fireplace surround Mike built for our electric fireplace insert and TV. It looks fabulous and the cost was very reasonable. We love it.

Terrible experience overall, dishonest, does not show up or complete work he says he will do. Never present when sub contractors are here so work had to be redone. Project took over 8 months longer than he quoted because he moves on to other jobs instead of completing work that has been paid for.

The quality of the project for the complete kitchen remodel, new laundry room, remodeled mud room, new custom built custom fireplace, and pantry turned out fantastic. At this time, my finished trim carpenter is completing all the install of the new doors, final baseboards and trim throughout the whole house to finish."

Mike is great to work with and a very kind and fair person. Heâ s willing to help out in any way he can and is open to figuring out how to make unique ideas a reality. Our project turned out beautifully and he did a fantastic job. Our project finishing part of our basement did take 3-4 months longer than anticipated largely due to demand scheduling subcontractors and supply chain so it took patience but it was worth the wait.

Mike Fowler, a contractor not to be trusted, he is not honesty and has no integrity whatsoever. He is a smooth talker and knows how to gain someones trust. When someone talks the way he talks you realize he is a scammer. He is always giving you excuses on why he cannot start the job. After paying him 17, 500 dollars all I have to show for it is building permits, desk plan, structural engineer draws and 20 feet of silt fans. When questioned about the finances he paid himself 9350 dollars of the 17500 dollars we had paid him, and after lying about why he could not start the project then decided to terminate the contract. We are now left with no building.

"I regret how this project ended but after completing all of the permitting process, the customers put their house up for sale. In addition, there are major problems with their neighbors who threatened to sue my company if we started so I terminated contract and I returned $10,000"

I am so appreciative of the quality, responsiveness, and value that Mike Fowler and his crew performed on completely remodeling and expanding our kitchen including moving walls. He did it in a timely manner, provided progress updates often and finished the job in record time. We get compliments all the time on the quality of the work and how our kitchen has been completely transformed. He coordinated or did himself all the carpentry, electrical, appliance installation, cabinets, and countertop installation after we approved the plan he drew out for us. I also used him to add a shower to my laundry room, cut down a huge tree in my yard, and put a new face around my fireplace. I would highly recommend Mike for ANY remodeling work you are considering for your house. His prices are competitive too

Mike has done my entire unfinished basement and his work ethics and willingness to work with changing design needs is exceptional. Mike's patience and quality of work is exceptional. His only goal is to ensure that customer is happy and he doesn't hesitate to redo things if customer wanted differently. If I could give Mike more than five stars, I would without hesitation. I just finished a major renovation, and I had several small projects remaining that I couldn't find any single service willing to do, such as mount the microwave over the stove, hang very heavy mirrors, mount the new dishwasher to the new countertops, and install 200 linear feet of baseboard. Mike took care of everything with great care and professionalism. The finishing touches he did for the baseboards (perfect corner cuts, caulking, etc.) were awesome. He worked tirelessly to make sure that everything is perfect, checking with me throughout the project to make sure that I was satisfied at each step. Plus his fees are amazingly fair and reasonable. I plan to hire him again to continue working with me on other projects on the rest of my property. I can recommend him without hesitation!
