COGGIN BROTHERS INC

I got quotes from Lowe's, Home Depot, and Coggin Brothers to build a very small kitchen island. I had a specific idea of what I wanted. I chose Coggin Brothers because I wanted to support a smaller town business and they offered a comparable price and the rep helped me find just the right wood and stain there. However, after I ordered, I was then told they couldn't get that stain anymore and that sample was outdated by 12 years and they didn't know why it was still on the shelf. It was too late by then to get the good sale at Home Depot, so I stuck with Coggin and they did help me find a different stain I didn't like as much but would work; they didn't charge me cost difference for that. The island was done in the time they had estimated and the delivery was on time as planned. However, I've never ordered a kitchen island or cabinets before and was shocked when the island arrived in pieces in 12 different boxes. I had been asked if I had an "installer," which I thought meant mounting the island to the floor and wall. I had someone lined up to do that. But I hadn't been told the cabinet would arrive in many pieces with no instructions and would have to be completely assembled by a cabinetry professional, including cutting and sizing the pieces of wood for several hundred dollars extra. When I spoke to my sales rep, I was told it was assumed that I knew this as all cabinetry is delivered this way. I thought the $2500 I paid for a small, simple island would include it actually being built. I chose this small business because I trusted they'd help guide me through the process as this is my first time ordering cabinetry. I am very disappointed because it will now cost way above the Home Depot and Lowe's estimated prices by the time I find and pay an installer who can put it together. If I had known this up front, I would have chosen a different company with a better price.
