Transmission
$9,000
This should be a zero star rating. A while back we had transmission problems with our Sprinter. After calling around central Colo. we chose Mac Daddy. First contact with them was pleasant and professional appearing, not unlike the reception you get at a used car dealership. Over the phone they said to replace the transmission would be 3 to 4 thousand dollars. The final bill was 9 thousand dollars and would have been much higher had we not cut ties with them. When you get a quote of 3 to 4K and ends up 9K it can be one of only two scenarios, 1 they didnt know what they were doing or 2 they were being shady about something. Neither 1 or 2 is a good option. When the work was to be finished they said they couldnt finish the work because they couldnt tune the shift points on the transmission. Their reasoning is that they needed to replace the turbo and or the electronic transmission module, to the tune of an additional 5 thousand dollars. We said NO. Our turbo was working fine when we took it in. When we went to pick up the Sprinter they would not let us near the vehicle until we paid. They also said they would not honor the warranty because we didnt do the extra work. We took the Sprinter to Mercedes in Denver area to tune the shift points and they were able to do so with no problem, no turbo or module needed. When I paid Mercedes for their time, they let me know what they thought about Mac Daddy and it wasnt good. They said they have fixed Mac Daddy problems in the past and would not recommend them despite them being the only option for Sprinter on the west slope of Colo. I have audio recordings to back everything up. This was truly one of the worst experiences of my life. BEWARE!!!!!!
