.Things got off to a rocky start due to a new work coordinator and a couple new sub-contractors. There were two problems: 1) the tub did not get leveled correctly and 2) the new drywall did not get joined correctly to the existing drywall. The room was completely done when we told them it was not going to be acceptable. Josh and Jennifer had the room completely redone at their expense and even repainted things they did not initially paint for us. The bathroom is wonderful now and we love it. We plan to have Josh and crew do our other bathroom next. Updated 2014/01/26 We absolutely love the bathroom! We couldn't be happier with the work done by Josh and Vision Brothers construction.

basement

We worked mostly with Josh, and he was a very nice person to work with. He did a remarkable job and we are immensely pleased with both the basement and the exterior deck. Josh and another man came and worked all day for weeks in the basement doing the framing, routing water lines, routing electrical and the rest. We had to correct very few items: in one case outlets and light switches were not where we would like them and Josh had them moved with no question. In another case we had some color variation problems with the bamboo flooring. Josh worked with the flooring vendor and we got 10 boxes of flooring comped to us to correct the issue. We decided to replace the egress windows with newer models, and it delayed our finish slightly because we decided rather late to do that. The windows and surround were done perfectly. We love to be in the basement now and use it for guests and as a media room

deck

we had cornerstone do a 12x14 exterior attached deck in summer 2012 using composite decking. under the deck we filled in with rock. cornerstone sub-contracted all that out, with only a couple glitches. the landscaping company did not size the rock bed very well and had to come back to make it larger to be in sync with the deck. The deck installer did not quite understand our requirements for attaching the railings posts and footings. Josh corrected the issues with no problems.

Cornerstone, and especially Josh, were in our corner the whole way and always professional. We plan to use them again for a bathroom update we are planning.

Overall I was not happy. First, I was relocating from the East Coast and I needed my house to have at least one livable space when I arrived. I was OK with the work not being completely done; I just asked that there be one bedroom and one bathroom that I could live in while the rest of the work continued. Well, when I arrived, none of that had been done. Not one of the toilets had been hooked up, not one sink, and there were carpet strips over all the house with the tacks exposed so I and my pets could not walk safely. I partly understand the carpet situation because the carpeting was backordered, but I had to have some place to live. I feel that Cornerstone could have put the old carpet back into one bedroom just to help me out. I had to board my dog and 3 cats because of this and also had to live at a friend's house for several days, which cost me a lot of money and inconvenienced my friend. Cornerstone did not offer to reimburse me. I also need to mention that their work on my carpet was shoddy and their response to my complaints was poor. After installation, I noticed that the edges on the carpet were fraying. When I asked about it, I was told "Oh, new carpets always fray. Just clip it off." Then when I was vacuuming a downstairs room, I noticed a large half-moon shaped gap between the carpet and the wall. When I put my hand into the defect to look at it, the carpet pulled right up off the floor. It had not even been tacked down. I tried all the edges and it was like the carpet had just been rolled out and that was it. They didn't seal the edges (thus the fraying), they didn't stretch it (thus the half moon cut edge) and they didn't even nail it down. It was literally just laying on the subfloor. When I complained again, the owner got a carpet repair specialist to come in and fix it, and he even commented on how poor the work was. I also had trouble with the owner taking responsibility for final touch-ups. There were places on the walls that hadn't been painted, the plumbers hadn't put caps over the large screws holding toilets to the floor, there were lots of little things like that. I asked several times for these things to be finished, and when the owner finally showed up, he was, OK I'll just say it, rude. With a heavy sigh, he said "OK, what do you need done?" then he just slapped paint on the wall and hurried through the rest. If I hadn't had such a bad experience with the carpet and the final touchup, I would give Cornerstone a good review. Other than those things, their work was good, especially the backsplashes, which are very well done. The problems I had and the hoops I had to jump through to get them resolved tainted the whole process, however. Because of that, I can't in good conscience give them a good recommendation.

They did an overall good job. My only issue was that the owner said he would do all the work himself but needed up using a sub contractor that made a measuring mistake. We had a small delay and the work was corrected. The owner leveled with us on everything else, which was good. He did not try to overcharge me at all.

Cornerstone Construction was very nice. The man who performed services was a great handyman. He was a very nice, honest and reliable man. I think the job I gave him was a difficult job and I feel as if he did a fine job.
