Like so many folks on this forum we were also scammed by Mike. He was a nice guy and very punctual...at first. Then we stopped returning calls. He would finally show up once we called many many times, but only to finish the paint. The rest of the room is still not done and he has never shown back up. Now his number is disconnected. DO NOT USE THIS GUY! He is a liar and a scammer. Find someone else.

We hired them in Sept 2021 after checking reviews and ratings to finish our basement, build out a new kitchen and laundry room, remove a FP wall to open up the first floor, and remodel our master bathroom. Wish I hadnt bothered. Asked if he had his own crew in the interview, he answered he did. He showed up with one other guy - a 6-month job with 2 people and a few subs took 1 year of living in hell plus the cost doubled. I am pretty organized and gave them a room by room scope of work outlined with everything to be done along with tech specs and manuals which were ignored. Plus we had all of the material because we were going to build a custom house in another state (Bosch Kitchen Appliances, Kohler bathroom fixtures - sinks, faucets, etc.). Sad we didnt stay there and build now. We must have gotten him when he was still finishing jobs, however, over the past year, now we have had to fix plumbing, insulation, electrical, drywall, etc. The cost of repairs has been financially detrimental to us (both retirees and former military). Too many shortcuts to mention. Substandard craftsmanship - I thought he said we take pride in doing a job right. No communication - showing up late, leaving early. No plan for what was done on a daily basis. Today, another issue where he didnt even vent my range hood properly - Thanks Mike! So another $3K for new venting and correcting insulation. I had told them early in the project that my mild mannered hubby had a memory issue and he might ask the same question a few times. They were rude and unkind to him (a decorated war veteran) - we let it go because we wanted the job finished. His worker threatened us with violence and I told him to get off the property asap. This was all for asking a question. Plus he hired guys to paint my kitchen cabinets English Hunter Green - they were not prepped properly and chip constantly now so I will have to spend another bundle of cash to repair these. We so want to love this house, but we keep finding crappy work which we repair so the next owner will not have issues. We really liked him & his worker in the beginning, as we met his wife and his daughters who were very sweet. It just leaves a bad taste in your mouth when you deal with tradesmen who just don't care. Plus I feel bad for the people who have posted here. We lived in 2 rooms and without a kitchen for a year - think of the cost outlayed. Also, 2 of these reviews that are favorable are former workers and his spouse. So sorry this happened to everyone.

Scam company! We began our home renovation project in early May 2023 and regrettably we chose New Castle Group, LLCâ ¦HUGE MISTAKE! They are a scam company, they are quick to take your money, start the project, show up for a few days, leave the work unfinished, lie about materials being on order, send cryptic messages then disappear for a while. This was their pattern the entire summer! We understood weather delays and empathized with their personal challenges that unfolded and were willing to negotiate an amicable solution. They were uncooperative and unwilling to work together on a solution. We found them on Angi which we believed was a reliable source. It was to be a 5-week project. As of today, most of the work they did needs to be fixed or completely redone. They are extremely unreliable, unprofessional and should NOT be in the construction business. Do not be fooled by â smooth talkingâ Mikeâ ¦you too will be scammed by them if you engage their services. Their subcontractors would show up, start a project, and leave it unfinished. In addition, their subcontractors were unprofessional, damaged our home, and rifled through the tools in our garage. And they took our ladders! They took short cuts when they did not have solid direction or the correct/enough materials. One subcontractor told us he had insulated the walls he worked on, and after inspection, it was determined he had not. Bottom line, with New Castle Group LLC, you get lies, delays, no shows, little to no communication, and EXTREMELY POOR craftsmanship AND you will be out a great deal of money! While I prefer avoiding negative reviews and legal action, itâ s crucial they are held accountable. I want to prevent others from experiencing what we are dealing with. They were given ample opportunity to rectify the situation and chose not to. I have sent numerous emails with no response. DO NOT work with them!

Horrible business! He abandoned out job after working on it for over a year. It was supposed to he a 4 week project. We were forced to finish it ourselves after giving him $30,000. The work he did do was poor quality and not to code. Please be warned. The owner is a smooth talker but a horrible business owner.

Hired Mike Barbee back in July 2022 to build a small deck extension and cover for the existing deck. He came as a referral home advisor so I thought he was screened, apparently not. As of this date he still has not completed even a quarter of the work he was hired for and the work he did was not to code, poor craftsmanship and the cheapest material he could find. I gave him 30000.00 and got nothing but scammed. He does not return messages, he doesn't follow a schedule, poor craftsmanship, doesn't build to code, finds and uses subpar material. He started work on my deck which was supposed to take 4 weeks to complete, as of September 2023(14 months later) only 25% done. Had to hire another pro and redo almost all the work he did over the 1 year he was "on the job". Do not place your money, trust or safety in his hands.
