Do to a week long hard rain storm part of my roof leaked in the 2nd bdrm area and bathroom. When i discovered it, I made a claim to my insurance and took bids for repair according to the insurance guidelines. The winner of the bid was not the lowest bid but had belonged to the BBB with a A+ approval rating. I scheduled the repair which included a 16X20 ft roof replacement up to code, new insulation in the attic of the affected areas, new ceiling and wall sheetrock of the bdrm + bath finished, new wood window casing and trim on two windows, new larger shower, modifying ceiling and baseboard trim in the bathroom. It appears that they did a good job on the roof, attic insulation, sheetrock in the bedroom and bathroom, new shower install and connecting the plumbing to the shower. It appears, but I had no access to those areas nor the skill to actually see those hidden areas to give a true personal approval. My questional uneasiness was due to their very poor workmanship in replacing and modifying the wood trim in the bathroom as it was patched together using pieces from the damaged trim in other parts of the bathroom that should have been thrown away, instead of just buying new trim to making it look professionally complete. One trim piece next to the new shower wasn't installed at all. Contacted them to have them come back to fix and install the trim and he said, "I'll give you $10 to fix it yourself as I don't have free time to drive over there, again". I told him I had no skill and experience to do this and again requested he fix it. He said, he would fix it when he gets time. It's been several months now and he has yet to fix it. In conclusion, it appears that 90% of his work is good, but it's the 10% of the poor workmanship that really stands out and puts in question for me that maybe what I don't see, is in addition poor workmanship, too. I'll wait until April 22nd for him to fix the trim. If he doesn't get it done, I'll have to hire someone else to fix it and will send him their bill. The A-F ratings were due to that 10% poor workmanship and the possibility of the hidden workmanship. I know the workmanship in fixing the bathroom trim properly was minor, compared to the overall appearances of good workmanship
Description of Work: The provider won the bid to repair my rain damaged roof over the bedroom and bathroom, replace insulation in the attic and walls, replace ceiling and wall sheetrock, replace two window wood trim and casings, replace shower stall and it's framing and reconnecting and adjusting the shower drain to accomodate the larger shower. Plus replacing or modifying the ceiling and baseboard trim in the bathroom. No painting and dusting was in the bid.

I was satisfied with the quote that he gave me. BUT, at the time of completion of remodeling I noticed there were not any baseboards on any of the walls. Even though he showed me the quote how was I to know about baseboards? Trusting him to do the job! I asked him about it and he said they were not included and that he would do it for an additional $2,500! I have been noticing other things since. Example: I went downstairs to change the battery in the smoke detector. It was electric and the cheap model. What happens if the electricity goes off as a result of a fire? Also, when he did the bathroom, he only had sheet rock put behind the shower and not across the whole bathroom back wall. It would have been only another couple of pieces. As a result there is a large space that anyone can step through from the store room into the bathroom! I would NEVER use this contractor again!
