Auto Service, Brakes
They had some trouble replacing the inverter coolant due to an air pocket in the system which required them to keep the car overnight (I think air pocket in the inverter cooling system is a common problem in a Prius). They tested my brake fluid and said it was good and no need to replace it. I had my car back at noon the next day. They did a good job. Car runs fine.

They could have replaced the oil pan gasket and I would have paid the $720 no questions asked because I thought it was leaking. These folks have earned my trust. This is a a very honest shop. I highly recommend them.

After purchasing my snow tires from Louisville Tire, I have been returning here twice a year to have them put on in late fall and taken off in late spring. I never make an appointment -- I just show up and they are usually able to do the work while I wait. the price is right too, only $25 or so each time I need to get them changed. I'll be back here in November.

The shop did the radiator service, and when I checked the work at home. I discovered the mechanic left out one of the air dam screws and did not replace any of the anti-vibration tension plugs in the air dam. I took the vehicle back and was made to feel like I was a major nuisance and why would I care about a screw and some plastic plugs. I explained that they were all there when I brought the car in and I wanted them all there when the work was completed. I was told that those tension plugs have to come from Toyota and the LT shop doesn't have any. So I asked that they order them from Toyota, which they did. So I had to bring the car back a 3rd time to have the plugs installed. I spoke w/the manager and he made me feel like I was the most unreasonable customer of the week, even though I was polite and calm in all the discussions on the matter. I would have expected that he would apologize for the careless work and at least offer me a free oil change next time. He barely said, "Sorry about that." I felt that he wanted to close the matter and get on to the next big ticket customer.
I've had all my vehicles serviced here for years and bought multiple sets of tires. They are honest and do good work. However, I must say that their customer service was poor on this occasion and the front desk service writers need better training in customer care and courtesy.

My brakes were making noise. I knew I needed to have them checked though I was dreading it because I was fearing it would end up being around a $500 job. But, I took my car to Louisville Tire because of great reviews on Angie's List. I wasn't diappointed. They told me my rear brakes were about 90% worn out and they needed replacement immediately. The front ones could wait as they were "only" 70% worn out. It ended up costing about $170 which was much less than I was expecting. It only took about an hour and I was on my way. Very fast and professional! Highly recommended!

The new tires were on for a couple of weeks, and one of them had a sidewall blowout. Louisville Tire sent it back to the manufacturer for me and got them to replace it at no charge, then they balanced and mounted it again for no additional cost. They were helpful and timely, and got the job done with minimum hassle.

My 2007 Honda Element front end was shaking whenever I applied the brakes, especially when going down hill. Also, a rumbling noise was coming from the rear whenever I made a tight turn. I took the Element to Louisville Tire & Auto to have them look at the brakes and investigate the the rumbling noise. They reported the front brakes probably had about 1,000 miles left and the rear brakes were probably good for another 3,000 miles. They couldn't find the source of the rumbling noise, and recommended I take the Element to the dealer. I asked them to go ahead and do the front brakes and also let them know that, based on some Internet research I did, changing the rear differential fluid might resolve the rumbling issue. They were very receptive to my Internet research and agreed to replace the rear differential fluid. They did all the work in one day.

Although I asked them to replace the original equipment hose clamps on the heater hoses with the good stainless steel kind, they reused the old clamps. The old clamps are not leaking so I did not tell them about it.

We were going there anyway but we looked it up and it was number one on Angie's List. They're competent and honest. They just checked my brakes and said that they were only half used up. I've got 57,000 miles on the car so I thought I needed brakes. There was no charge. They spent 20 minutes at least on it. You have to jack the car up and take all of the wheels off. I've been going there for a long time. They're real good. They're not extremely high priced. With a brake job, you go into some of these chain places and they try and sell you everything under the sun for your brakes. Louisville doesn't do that at all. The manager told me about the last car I took it in there for brakes, "I couldn't sell you rotors if you didn't need them because I couldn't sleep at night." They're really good that way. I've recommended friends to them that have gone there and been happy. They make appointments. If you get there when they're done they're with you in about five minutes. They're really punctual. It's very professional. They have a couple of service writers, a manager, and they have a bunch of mechanics. Different grades of mechanics. Their top mechanic is excellent. He can do anything.

They charged quite a bit lesser than what the dealer quoted us for essentially the same work. Their people were very good, very competent and very friendly.

I had called about a check engine light issue. The person I spoke to
was very responsive and told me to come in anytime and that they would
run a code, free. I made an appointment and decided to have my oil
change at the same time. I had the code read at the local Pep Boys,
instead, as I was told they will do this free as well. This way I could
tell them what was wrong and get it fixed when I drove out to where
they are located. At Pep Boys the fellow saw the loose wire and was
trying to fix it but had no tools and burned his hand trying to get to
it.
When I took my car in for my appointment and told them what
the issue was, I was told that they would have to do their own
inspection of the emissions system before fixing anything. I had a late
afternoon appointment and I got the impression that they just wanted to
get me out of there. They did the oil change and when I tried to tell
them where the loose wire had been located they did not even try to
locate it. I was told I needed to make another appointment to have the
whole emissions system checked.
Now I imagine that there may have
been more wrong than just the loose wire, and yes, that probably would
have taken another appointment, but I was there, and the loose wire had
been spotted. I think the least they could have done was reconnect that
wire and see if that took care of the engine light issue.

This was a pretty routine service call for my Chevy Silverado: oil change with synthetic oil, rotate and balance tires, and inspect the brakes since I've had some brake noise when stopping and the brakes are still the originals after 4 years/$77K. I actually expected that the brake pads at least would need replacing. Much to my pleasant surprise, the technician said I had over 50% left on all four brakes, so I was able to put this off for the time being. A local auto service competitor had told me previously that I was closer to 25% left on the brakes. Obviously, my superb driving skills have led to this extended brake life.

Louisville Tire & Auto could have replaced the the oil pan seal gasket as that is what I told them Ford had recommended. Instead they called me and told me they had found a less costly problem. I was pleasantly surprised that they were so honest and instead of charging me for a $200+ repair they only charged me for the much less costly washer replacement.
Although they did not get the part from Napa for the PCV sensor repair until a few minutes before they closed for the day (Friday) they mechanics worked efficiently to finish that day instead of forcing me to leave the car overnight.
Louisville Tire & Auto was the definition of an honest mechanic. I will definitely be back the next time I need a mechanic and recommend the same for anyone else.

We have used Louisville Tire for several years. They are courteous, helpful, and the job is always done well. This last trip was for a set of new tires and they provided consultation on the tire to pick. They had the car ready by noon after I had dropped it off first thing. They provide free services like tire rotation to preserve my investment in the tires. And they have helped in the past when I've gotten the stray nail in the tire, getting me in quickly and fixing it for free.

They were true professionals. Their diagnosis was quick and efficient (and free!). They had the problem fixed within a day and I've had no problems with oil leaks since. It's good to know there's a reliable, honest local auto mechanic in the neighborhood.
