I have been using this vet since the leading vet for ferrets in my area retired.  Before he retired he told me that this clinic is great with ferrets.  I go to them because the veterinarians at this clinic are great with ferrets and ferrets can be difficult to deal with.  Some vets think they know ferrets and I have found that they do not in fact know as much as they think they do about ferrets.  Due to the size of a ferret, things can go bad very quickly and you need a vet who knows what to do and when to do it with the little guys. They are a little pricey, but  I would rather pay a little more out of pocket and know that I have great care for my little furry members of my family.  Everything was great.  They took care of everyone and even caught a life threatening condition due to their vigilance.  Let me put it this way... when they inject a ferret with anything that may cause a reaction one of the vet techs carries the ferret around for 30 minutes after the injection.  This way the vet tech can tell the doctor if any changes occur with blood flow, breathing or other symptoms that are urgent.  After the 30 minutes they are returned to the waiting owner.  I would rather wait the 30 minutes and know that my ferret is safe, than be on my way home with a ferret who has a reaction in the car and then becomes an emergency.  This is what I mean by great with ferrets.  If they are that careful with my little guys, I know I can trust them with my new puppy.  Like I said they are a little pricey compared to other vets in the area, but I would rather have the peace of mind and know my kiddos are in good (loving) hands.

I took my cat in because it was peeing outside the box. After seeing the dr. we decided to leave the cat overnight so they could watch for problems and take a urine sample in the morning. As I leave that night, I pay $150. The next day I came back to pick up the cat and they charge me another $60 telling me it was for the DR. visit last night. What did I pay for last night then? While they took the time to explain it to me. I felt a little cheated. Why didn't I pay for that at the time? Why wasn't I told so I could anticipate another payout? Then they recommended vaccines for my cat. Okay, I say. They charge me for two, give me one and tell me I only have a small window to come back in two weeks for the second vaccination. COULDN'T I HAVE PAID FOR THE SECOND ONE WHEN I CAME IN FOR IT? I never wen't back.

I really like the people that work there.

They did the work. The cats were dropped off at 7:30 am and were picked up at 5. It appears they did a great job. They were a couple of hours late completing the work (they had said they would be ready at 3), but the delay did not not affect our schedule (or the time we would have picked them up) this time.

The doctor and the nurse were very professional. They had told me at an earlier appointment that my dog should get his teeth cleaned. They recommended that I wait until November because the cost would be cheaper. They explained the procedure and gave me a break down of the cost. They were very good with the dog and called when the procedure was finished. They gave me instructions for home and called the following day to make sure my dog was ok. I was very pleased with the service.

The doctor was very thorough, checking Kuma's records to see that the first time he received a vaccination, he had a small reaction, so she offered to give him a shot of Benadryl to protect him. I asked how much that would be and chose to give him a dose of it at home instead. Dr. VanDeventer seems to truly love dogs and her job. She always takes as much time as you need to answer questions.

MY DAUGHTERS TOOK THE CATS IN FOR THE CHECKUPS. EVERYTHING WENT FINE. WE HAVE TAKEN THE CATS TO LOUISVILLE FAMILY ANIMAL HOSPITAL SINCE THEY WERE KITTENS. WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN PLEASED WITH THEIR APPROACH TO ANIMAL CARE & TREATMENT. THE FACILITIES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN CLEAN & INVITING.

OVERALL I'M PLEASED WITH THE WORK AND THE SERVICE WE RECEIVE AT THE VETS. THE NURSES AND DOCTORS ARE ALL VERY FRIENDLY AND ATTENTIVE TO OUR NEEDS. THEY HANDLE MY DOG WELL AND ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS THAT I MAY HAVE. THEY SEND REMINDER CARDS FOR UPDATED SHOTS AND APPOINTMENTS, WHICH I FIND VERY HELPFUL.

AS USUAL, DR. COLLINS AND HIS STAFF DID A WONDERFUL JOB, TAKING THE TIME TO ANSWER ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS, TAKING EXCELLENT CARE OF OUR PETS, AND PERFORMING EXCELLENT FOLLOW UP AFTER THE PROCEDURE.
