Joe and and his team did a super job, as they always do.  I was replacing an older on-demand water heater with a new Rinnai on-demand water heater.  I have this same Rinnai unit in another house so I know that was the best water heater.  Joe said he only installs Rinnai for on-demand units - he doesn't install junk just to get the lowest bid.  Joe and two of his helpers made the plumbing and venting changed needed for this unit.  I have a crawl space, and he didn't stick me with a "crawlspace charge" like others do.  In the last 20 years I've used all the various residential HVAC companies that advertise in Longmont, and was ultimately disappointed in every one of them.  Then I tried my first small firm, Tri-County H&C, and have never looked back.

We've used Tri-county for years and have had various levels of success but recently we've noticed that the owner is increasingly unstable and this has been varified by a few of the subs he uses. I would strongly suggest going with another company. The last job we used him for he didn't show or call on the first apt and then proceeded to charge $200 more than we discussed. When I asked for an explanation of the charge he responded by simply stating that he would send the check back and we will go our separate ways. Very strange.

I went with Tri County Heating and Cooling after they provided me with a very reasonable estimate to install a Breezair swamp cooler.  From the first day they showed up for the job it was obvious they didn't know how to properly install the swamp cooler.  The owner gave me a price for the job but did not mention any possible complications that could add additional costs.  Several hundred dollars were added to have an electrician come out and pull wires.  They told me I needed to buy a specific breezair thermostat that was an additional several hundred dollars.  After I made some phone calls I informed them that this breezair specific thermostat was not necessary.  The first rain after the swamp cooler was installed, there was a major leak in my roof which caused damage to the ceiling in a bedroom below the swamp cooler.  Tri county came out to the house and attempted to fix their mistake which caused the leak by caulking and applying tar around the ductwork.  The next time it rained it leaked again causing more damage.  I informed the owner that the swamp cooler had been installed incorrectly based on research that I had done.  I had taken photos of several other swamp cooler installations and I showed him how the unit should have been installed.  The new unit had been thrown on top of the old ductwork.  There should have been new ductwork put in place, but instead they took the lazy route and I have had problems ever since.  They eventually installed new ductwork but they inmproperly attached the water line.  I finally called the owner and told him I was tired of sloppy/lazy work and that I would be having another company address any more issued that come up with the swamp cooler.  I would never recommend this company based on the quality of their work.
