Description of Work: The problem is that no services were provided. I have had a leased car from this company for the last two years. I had a good buying experience and I have had very good service up to the last two months. I was waiting outside the service area last September because I heard a noise coming from the side of my car. An employee came out and asked if I needed help. I told him about the noise and he brought me to an office and he got on his computer. When I asked him what he was looking up, he turned around and said “You are in luck-you only have to pay us $1,000.00 to trade in your car for a new Sonata.” When I said I didn’t want a new car and got up to leave, he sarcastically said,” Sorry we couldn’t please you.” I didn’t report that thinking the poor guy must be desperate or incredibly stupid. Mr. Desimone, this guy’s boss told me later that there is nothing wrong with this sales practice. Two weeks ago, I was driving in a snowstorm and found that I couldn’t even get up a small hill with my tires that had 27,000 miles on them. I had them checked at two different tire places and found that they were in the red/yellow zone which means the tread is in bad shape. When I checked back on my last service slip from Stevinson, it indicated that the tires were in bad shape 5 months ago. My tires wore out after 1 ½ years or 20,000 miles. I called the dealer on November 20th and accused them of either putting very cheap tires on my car or putting used tires on my car, which is what one of the tire shops thought happened. The man I spoke with said someone would call me back on Monday. Mr. Desimone who is the man in charge at Longmont Stevinson called me on Monday morning, the 24th of November. When I answered the phone, he asked why I had called. Before I could answer, he started yelling how dare I accuse him of putting used tires on my car. When I explained to him that it was suggested to me that may have happened because new tires shouldn’t wear out that quickly, he accused me of yelling. I wasn’t , but I told him that he needed to stop shouting and listen to my concerns. I told him that since I talked to his employee I had looked up tire complaints on-line and found that car manufacturers were putting “soft” tires on new cars. These tires are meant to ride well enough to sell a car but wear out before 30,000 miles. He said he has nothing to do with that and then acted aghast that I would have driven my car 27,000 mile in two years-according to him-of course the tires would wear out. I told him that he was acting like a small child and I didn’t appreciate his attitude. He said the conversation was over. I asked him if he was going to hang up on me and he asked what did I want from him. I told him I wanted him to pay for new tires. He acted completely put out and said if anything I would only get one third of what it would cost me. I told him that would be fine-he then said no way are you going to get that. He said had nothing to do with what kind of tires Hyundai puts on their cars-he was not responsible. After reminding him that his dealership was, indeed, called Stevinson Hyudai, I called Hyundai Headquarters and was told to call Hankook tires. I did and found that they do not have warranties on any of their tires put on new cars. Hyundai told me to file a complaint against the dealer through them, but since he is an independent dealer, there isn’t much they can do about him. They also gave the number to BBD to file a complaint about the tires and the dealer.
