About us

Sam Ainsworth & Company was founded in April of 1982, in Greeley, Colorado, by Sam Ainsworth and Sam Ainsworth Jr. The business originally started as a commercial HVAC service provider. The company incorporated in October of 1984 as Sam Ainsworth & Company Mechanical Contractors Inc. The company then expanded its service base to include restaurant HVAC and cooking equipment, ice machines, as well as some residential new construction. Our Values: Provide maximum customer satisfaction Operate honestly and with integrity Provide employees with a safe and rewarding environment Operate as a team with customer satisfaction as our focus In the late 1980’s the company refocused its efforts to concentrate on the residential and light commercial service, repair, preventive maintenance, and the large residential and light commercial add-on/replacement market sectors. The company sold many brands of equipment in the late 1980’s including Whirlpool, Tempstar, and York. In 1991, the company switched to Trane as its primary brand of residential and light commercial equipment. During the mid 1990’s the company became an Aire-Serv Dealer. This allowed the company to incorporate business systems and processes, and profitable business strategies. Aire-Serv also provided a much needed avenue into the residential indoor air quality business sector. In 2002, Trane became a partner with The Home Depot to provide heating and air conditioning installations through the At Home Services department in The Home Depot. As a Trane dealer the company embraced this avenue of marketing and lead generation available exclusively through The Home Depot and Trane. Do to health reasons the corporation was sold to Kevin J. Kirk and Scott J. Kirk in May of 2007. Kevin served as the general manager of Cooper Heating and Cooling In Broomfield, Co for the last thirteen years and has been in the HVAC industry for over thirty years. Scott has worked for the Carrier Corporation and the Trane Company as a manufactures representative and business trainer for the last eleven years and has been in the industry for over twenty five years.

They were professional, informative, and prompt on scheduling. My interactions with them were professional, smooth and casual. Everything was cleanly installed. They supported any warranty work without any issues. They were good. They knew the industry and knew what they were doing.

I found SAC Mechanical in a random Internet search and looked at their reviews on Angie's List before proceeding to consider doing business with them. Since that time, they did a pre-installation sizing and analysis, answered all my questions, provided a competitive bid, performed an excellent installation on time and on budget, and handled a minor post-installation issue quickly and thoroughly. In summary, I was very impressed with Kevin Kirk (President), his crew, and the company's dedication to getting the job done right and I can confidently recommend them without reservation.

Our present whole house steam humidifier had been working fine for 8 years then quit.  Researched several brands and decided on an Aprilaire.  Selected 4 dealers in the area, called for pricing with house size (3900sf) and explained present situation.  They sent out a technician who evaluated old system and tried to fix but was unable to without further testing and the expense involved.  Based on what he saw and the projected cost of repair vs cost of a new Aprilaire it was close enough that I decided on the new unit.  This company's response and communication were outstanding from the office to the technician.  They did exactly what was promised & did it efficiently and promptly.  The manufacturer's warranty covers 5 years of parts and the dealer covered 2 years of labor.

We had placed a service call because our air conditioner wasn't working. We would turn it on but it just wouldn't start up.We called SAC because of the good ratings they had in Angie's list. They were able to come out the same day. They were very prompt and even called before they came. They were able to trace it to a wiring issue and so once he found it, it was very straight forward and inexpensive to fix. (Our A/C is 16 years old so I was afraid I was going to need a new one.) I appreciated the technician's honesty.I can't help but wonder if technicians that I had in from another (different) company over the winter to look at our furnace didn't cause the wiring problem, after all wiring doesn't rewire itself. Those companies were trying to sell me a new furnace and A/C.As I said, SAC was prompt, professional, honest, and fair in their pricing. I would recommend them highly. When it is time to purchase the new furnace and A/C, I will definitely give SAC a call.

We recently moved to Colorado, bought a house, and my wife was convinced our faces would fall off if we didn't get a humidifier. After some chapped lips in the morning I tended to think she might be on to something. I did some googling and decided several things
1. Wanted a whole house humidifier.
2. Narrowed it down to 2 brands, AprilAire, and Honeywell
3. Did not have the time or desire to install it myself.
So, I hopped onto Angies list to find someone. I chose 3 companies in the area based on their reviews. The first company quoted a price (the lowest of the three) without asking for the square footage of my home, when it was built, where my furnace was located, etc,. All of these are important when sizing the correct humidifier and determining the labor required to install. The second quoted what I thought was an extremely high price for the job, and for a model I did not want. He did ask me the questions I thought should be asked and answered some others I had. The last one was SAC Mechanical. The price was okay, not great IMO since I knew the cost of the humidifier, but Kevin was willing to install the humidifier of my choice and answered all my questions. Perhaps I could have shopped around a bit more but our faces were starting to fall off. He and the person who installed the humidifier were professional and knowledgeable. The job was done well and on time. So, fair price, great service = a winner in my book. Thanks SAC!

I started calling service companies on Saturday morning. Only one other company answered or returned my call. They had no availability until Tuesday. SAC said they could come Saturday afternoon. I explained that I was going to pick up my god daughter from the airport. Hugh said no problem, he would come Saturday evening. Sure enough, he was waiting at the house when we drove up. He spent almost three hours but he got it fixed. He showed me the bad part. He explained everything. He ran into a problem and had access to phone assistance. Company that will work on Saturday night, has the right part with them, has backup support and is mighty pleasant to work with is number one in my book. Hugh saved the weekend. Thank you.

My central air conditioner went on the fritz, and I originally called Sam Ainsworth and Company (a.k.a SAC Mechanical) because they were the only dealer for my brand They came out and figured out that my compressor had gone bad. They quoted the cost of a new compressor, but I decided that I wanted to get a new replacement for the 10 year old unit. I called several contractors to get quotes. The technician from SAC was the only one that actually went around the house and counted  my vents. He figured out that I had too large an air conditioner to start out with, and quoted me for a smaller Rheem unit that would match my Rheem furnace and coil.  Their estimate was one of the low ones, and I felt the most comfortable with their solution. They quickly came out and installed the new unit, including evacuating and cleaning my refridgerant lines for the new type of refrigerant. The job only took half a day to complete because they used Rheem/Ruud condensor and coil for the assembly. They were very clean and left everything in nice shape.

My Trane air conditioner went kaput, so I called SAC Mechanical initially to see if they could repair it. They are listed as a Trane dealer in the phone book. They came out and looked at the unit and found that the compressor had electrical faults in it that caused it to trip the breaker. They went back to Trane and found out that they could get a compressor with a 1 year warranty. They also suggested that it would be a better deal to replace the old unit (which used R22 refridgerant) with a new Rheem unit that had a 10 year warranty. I already had quotes from several other dealers to replace the air conditioner, so I asked them for a quote. The technician that came out was the only estimator that actually walked around the house and counted the number and size of vents and returns that I have. The other estimators all looked at the old 5 ton unit and assumed that I would need the same size. SAC Mechanical then came back with a quote for a 4 ton unit that would match my Rheem furnace and use the existing Rheem coil cabinet for the lowest cost. They were able to install the unit three business days after I had verbally accepted their bid. The president of the company personally brought their written proposal to my home to sign before the work was done. He told me that the warehouse had shipped them an equivalent Ruud unit instead of the Rheem that we had discussed. Because Rheem and Ruud are essentially equivalent, I accepted the change in units. They were careful to lay drop clothes from the front door to the mechanical room in the basement. They used two installers so the work went quickly. They also serviced my furnace and found that my furnace's air intake was disconnected from the outside air tube, and repaired that for no charge.
