John was really good. He did a great job.  It was better than we anticipated.  It was a top notch job.  It was very fair priced for the work he did and it included all the material cost

This is the second time we have called on Mr. Hughes to perform work in our house.  A year and a half ago, he had redesigned our entryway and mudroom with prairie-style framing around the door, beadboard wainscoting, coat hooks, and a custom made storage bench.  The work was flawless, and has earned compliments by everyone who walks in.  Wanting to continue the style, we hired him again for trim around our new windows.  He discussed our design wishes, came promptly to begin work, worked tirelessly through each day.  On day one, frames were measured, made, installed, caulked.  He left the site spotlessly clean.  On day two, windows were primed and painted, and the area was again spotlessly clean.  He came back the third day to check the paint job, felt it could use one more coat.  There was no extra charge for day 3.  We will definitely hire him again for our next project!

Mr. Hughes discussed with us a variety of ways we could make that space useful.  He drew up plans and offered us a number of options to fit our budget.  We ended up with a plan that not only took care of our minimal needs initially listed, but with one that provided us with optimal storage without crowding the small space.  We had been wanting a Craftsman style look, to go with the period of our house - and he gave us exactly that.  He showed up on time every morning and worked steadily until dinnertime.  When he was finished with his work for the day, the area was vacuumed and cleared of all debris.  Our house is 60 years old, and that room is not square - our flooring contractor complained about it, but Mr. Hughes solved the problem by paying careful attention to every detail of the job.  My neighbor and friends tell me they now have mud room envy.  Mr. Hughes is not only a cabinet maker and carpenter; he is a craftsman in his own right.  We will definitely hire him for other jobs in the future as we continue to renovate our house.
