"We were hired by [member name removed] to install electrical wiring in his new home. We had several meetings with [member name removed] both before and after work began. We installed the electrical wiring in the home, passed our state electrical inspection, and received payment from [member name removed]. [member name removed] later decided to finish the electrical on his own. We know [member name removed] has altered his electrical in the home after we were finished. Drywall was removed and electrical work was done within the walls. We also know he hired others to help on the trim. We do not know what alterations were made We have offered multiple times to finish the electrical work on his home. Our offer was to repair the work at our own cost if the problem originated from our work. However, if we found the issue was with his work, or the work of others, we would need to charge for the extra time and labor. [member name removed] will not agree only stating the problem is only with AAA Electric. He expects us to repair electrical wiring at no cost no matter where the fault lies."
Problems started with the house wiring. The main problem was that they did not follow plans or the notes on the electrical drawing that were part of the contract drawings. We have gone back and forth multiple times on issues, but at this point it would be a lot of work and expense to redo it the way it was designed. Plans called to wire outlets and switches separately. They wired them together. Outlets were supposed to be 20A. They wired at 15A except were code required 20A. They put minimum number of outlets in rooms vs following the layout on the electrical plans. They did add some outlets and move some outlets to get closer to plans at the homeowners request but this could have been avoided if the detailed plans were followed in the first place. They put way more on 15A circuits than the homeowners and others thought was safe. They did split several circuits at homeowners insistance. They did not redo to correct the light guage wiring. Wiring runs were messy and difficult to trace. Lines were looped through floor trusses vs being staple up. Lights and outlets were missed that were on the plans.
I am not happy with them for the way they wired my home. They wired it to meet minimun code spacings and standards vs the way it was designed which exceeded min. standards. Their original estimate was not very accurate on counts and differed from as built. I was billed per the estimate, vs what was installed even thought the G.C. assured me that billing would be as installed and that they would follow the plans. I am not sure what communication there was between the G.C. and the electrician, but I know that somewhere along the line, it was definately lacking. I am not planning on using them again in the future and will hire someone else to rework some areas and to finish area that were done close to plans.
