The costs of all the work were all worth it and then some!
we will definitely hire him again for future projects!
Steve is meticulous about details of his work. He is an excellent carpenter and likes things to be right. I really appreciated being able to point out if something was other than expected and he always addressed those issues.
Our project started out a little slow with some cabinets (purchased independently) that got lost. We also had some initial communication problems surrounding the installation of a downdraft vent. Everything eventually was worked out to our satisfaction. We absolutely love our kitchen and highly recommend Steve and Wildwood Renovations.
We would warn anyone who has never done a project like this, expect the project to take longer than you initially anticipate. Steve did everything he could do to keep everything on schedule, but you have to expect that unforeseen things will come up (sick subcontractors, supply issues, etc) that will push back the completion date. The proof of a great contractor is when these things happen, your contractor is on top of them, gives you options when the problems arise, and does everything in his power to keep work moving ahead.
His design ideas were beyond what we had thought of, but we couldn't be happier with the finished project. And on top of that, he made every effort to keep our home clean and livable during the duration of the construction. He was very pleasant and professional, and we would not hesitate to call on him again or recommend him to others.
As he started the project, we discovered that there were several deficiencies in my initial work that required fixing. These things included things like connecting the hot and cold water backwards, breaking the shower pan, and installing the tub incorrectly. Some of these things required very creative solutions since fixing them sometimes involved essentially starting over.
Now, when I look at the finished bathroom, I know that I could have NEVER completed the project. Steve's craftsman skills and general know-how made what was a mess, look professionally finished. I've worked with other contractors before but never with Steve's talent. I've used the word "craftsmanship" before - I could also describe it as artistic. Having tried to do some of this stuff myself, I understand how difficult it is to make projects look finished. As a result, I've promised my wife that I will stick to changing light bulbs and washing windows. I'll get Steve to do the real remodeling projects.
Steve is an excellent craftsman, and I am tickled with my updated accomodations!
In 2010 I bought a grandpa and grandma house, built in 1953, knowing that I wanted to modernize it by opening the kitchen to the dining room, and then opening up the back of the house by putting in a door and creating a back yard patio. Steve, from Wildwood renovations, did a beautiful job from the rough tear down to the the refined finish work. I had envisioned open walnut shelving on one of the walls. This was a custom request and I was pleased with the innovation that was brought to the challenge of creating this look.
Oh, and the work site was always cleaned up at the end of every day, which I greatly appreciated.
I recommend this company to anyone who is looking for excellent craftsmanship and a flair for the creative all for a reasonable and fair price.
