He did not do much taping and just painted "freestyle." He had several other painters helping him, so I do not know if one painted at a better quality than another. The walls were not in good condition--odd texturing, gaudy paint--and he did a reasonable job of dealing with that. But the paint was the wrong color and the entire house was finished before anyone realized it. I kept asking "When will we see the color it is going to be?", as the dark colors were bleeding through at first. So I was surprised to find the paint was not the color I chose. He offered to repaint the entire house, but I did not have the time and also had another set of contractors lined up for other work in the subsequent days. He negotiated with the paint company (their fault) to refund the price of the paint. He did some additional trim painting to help make up for the error, after some verbal conflict between him and me. He complained that he had bid two coats and some areas required three coats to cover and he did not charge me extra. During the walk through before payment, there were numerous spots that needed touch up and they did those right then. Later, however, we found many other places where the paint was not evenly coated and many adjacent areas (trim, ceiling, etc.) had splotches of paint on them, since no taping to protect them had been done. Also, after moving in, we found that the paint they washed down the kitchen sink included drywall mud that had hardened in the disposer, ruining it. They paid for a replacement.
