Purchase of the vertical blinds: We are very happy with the actual Hunter Douglas product but there were a couple problems working with The Blind Spot. After visiting the show room and selecting 2 possible products we scheduled a date/time for a rep to come to our home with samples to decide which product and measure the sliding doors. We received an email confirming the appointment time and requesting that all decision makers be present. Approximately 15 minutes after scheduled time the rep had still not arrived. I called the store (he didn't call me) and he indicated he had written down the wrong appointment time and that he would be there in 10-15 minutes. He finally arrived 40 minutes after the scheduled time and apologized. We told him that we were not happy but would go ahead. We ordered the new shade. They estimated it would be in in 3-4 weeks. After not hearing anything, I called 1 or 2 days before the 4 week mark and was informed that they had arrived 6 days (4 working days) prior and that the installer would be calling. They did not know how far out the installs were being scheduled. I asked if the installer could call me that day to schedule an appointment. He called the next day and installed the new blind 2 days later. Blind repair and cleaning: We were very happy with how the blinds looked after they were cleaned. I had 1 blind repaired and that went well. It was back within 7 days and worked fine. When I picked up the repaired blind I provided the rep the measurements and info to have 3 blinds cleaned and requested an estimate. The estimate was $72. They indicated that if I brought them in early on the following monday, they may be done by wednesday or thursday (one of the family members comes in to help sometimes) but officially quote 7 days. I returned on monday (10 minutes after they opened) with the shades to be cleaned. They require that I sign a waiver that essentially relieves them of all responsibility if the shades are damaged during the cleaning process. They quoted a price of $84 ($12 higher than the original estimate) and 7 days. I received a call later that day telling me the price they quoted was incorrect and that it would be $104. I let them know I was not happy with the continued price hikes. I asked the rep that came to our home to measure for the new blind to let me know if the blinds being cleaned were done. After not hearing from them, I called the following monday (day 8) and they indicated the blinds were done but not delivered back to the store and that I would need to pick them up between 5-6:00 that evening if I wanted them that day, which I did. They reduced the price to $88 (the rep told me they have trouble with math). I installed them that evening. 2 out 3 did not operate correctly. I was able to fix one but needed to take the other back to the store. They were able to repair it while I waited. They indicated they would clean 2 other shades for free to compensate me for my trouble. I returned the following monday with 2 shades for my free cleaning. They told me that since they were room darkening shades they needed to modify the process (turn down the temp in the tank, etc) and that I would have to pay half price. I was tired of messing around and agreed. I signed the waiver and left the shades. After not hearing from them, I called the following the following monday (day 8) to see if they were done and they were, not sure when they received them. When I picked them up the rep told me it would be $36. I told him I was suppose to pay half price. He said that I only got the first one for half price. I asked him to check with the person whom I originally dealt with. She agreed that it should be half price. Turns out the $36 was full price so I paid $18. Too many problems to go back.

I was really impressed with the technician who did everything in his power to make the blind work. He got on the phone to the office to see what tricks from the manufacturer he could try to "reset" the mechanism. The only reason I gave a lower score on price was that I was charged full price for the service call but he could not fix the problem because the manufacturer no longer supports the product; it was diagnosed, but could not be repaired When I get ready to replace the blinds, I will definitely give my business to the Blind Spot.

Overall experience was excellent.  Knowledge of product was also excellent.  Installation was on time and correctly completed. Lennie and his wife were very helpful in our selection.  Lennie even came to the house to double check our measurements to make sure the blinds would be made correctly to fit the space. We were very pleased.

I was impressed with their quality of work. They measured carefully, made great suggestions, and helped me work out the solution for a problem area concerning an arched window by constructing a small shelf. I was not as happy with their responsiveness since I had a lot of trouble getting a hold of them and had to push them to come out on time. I would still use them again since the work was so good, but I hope their responsiveness and professionalism improve.

"This review was from several years ago. At the time we researched her comments and did find that she had tried to contact us through the cell phone of the salesman, and unfortunately, he did not listen to messages in a timely manner. Once she contacted us at the office we did help her. We do use professional installers, with many years in the installation business, and they do not often make courtesy confirmation calls of their appointments. We have noted this as an area for improvement. With the proliferation of email, we do now have a system that can send email reminders for appointments and installations, with a photo of who will be arriving at the home. We appreciate the feedback, and are very serious about having many satisfied customers!"

First, I got frustrated because I called his cell and office a few times to let him know that indeed we wanted to do business with his company and wanted to touch base with him about when I wanted installation and what exactly I wanted. After numerous amounts of messages, finally I got a call back when I left a message saying if I did not hear back by the end of that business day I would take my business elsewhere. Finally, I got a call back. When it was the week of getting them installed, I again had to call to get the time they were coming out on the day of installation due to no courtesy call from the company. Once installation occurred, there was the one arch window in which they put up the wooden blinds and platinum shelf up Crockett. When I pointed it out to the installer, he tried to pass it off as the wooden blinds would naturally sag. I then had to point out that the reason I paid extra for the shelf was so no 'sagging' would occur. It took him a while but he finally fixed it!
