Sheppard's Total Exteriors

Chris Sheppard took my down payment of, $6,200.00 in January of 2024 to replace windows damaged by a hailstorm. He stayed in contact the first couple of months but has not returning phone calls, emails or text messages since May of 2024. WARNING - DO NOT CONTRACT with this company! He will rip you off!

Chris took 4,600 to do my windows and my deck as a down payment. Did the deck but not the windows. I asked him he owes me $2,000 and it has not returned my phone calls nor my texts in over 2 months.

We have lived in our home since 1996 and have had our house painted many times by at least four different painting contractors. I started looking for another painting contractor who not only paints houses but also repairs and replaces siding. I have seen “Sheppard’s Painting” and Sheppard’s Total Exteriors” signs in a several yards and then a friend told me that they are a very good company so I added them to my list of contractors to call. We needed lots of siding repairs due to a roof replacement that left a lot to be desired. We had no idea that the roofers neglected to put up new flashing material after they removed it where the roof meets the fireplace. The damage was extensive and we needed to get the siding replaced and repaired before further damage was caused. I called the first two contractors on my list to get an estimate. Each guy had a totally different take on what was needed to repair and paint our house. There estimate felt like they were guessing, one said that they would know more once they got started, the other one said the range could be anywhere from $4,500.00 to $7,500.00 and I had to keep my same paint colors. I was not impressed with them at all. I called Sheppard’s and spoke to Debbie she was so nice and helpful. She set up a time the next day for Tom to stop by and take at look at my house. From the start I could tell that Tom was different than the other contractors. We walked around the house and he pointed out the problem areas we chatted the whole time, he was so easy to talk to. We talked about the colors and he said “you should always change your colors for the best results”, that made sense to me and after spending 30 minutes together he gave me a written estimate; which was very fair $5,900.00 for everything, I accepted it and wrote a check for the deposit to get put on his books. When Sheppard’s crew showed up they started in right away. They were efficient and skilled. I was amazed how they prepped the house, using the first day to get the house ready to be painted that impressed me because the previous contractors used a few containers of caulk, I don‘t think they even used any primer before they started to paint. Sheppard’s attention to details was incredible! They replaced a lot of the siding, power-washed the whole outside of the house, scraped the chipped areas, caulked where needed and then primed all the areas that needed it. They worked hard throughout the three days they spent on my house. At the end of each day they picked up everything and made sure my gates were closed so my dogs would not get out. I would HIGHLY recommend “Sheppard’s Total Exteriors”, for siding repair or replacement and “Sheppard’s Painting” for superior house painting.

It started with the initial estimate to replace a rotting 8" post for our deck railing. As with most home projects, the work expanded tremendously after we started looking into the details. It turned out that our deck had never been built properly and was probably close to collapsing with any kind of serious load.

They sub-contracted to Hammer Time!, for the actual construction. This guy was fantastic. Once he started working on it, he was extremely efficient and professional. In the end, he had to sink three new concrete support posts and a long support beam below the deck surface. This was extremely hard work since we live in the mountains with very rocky soil and we obviously wanted to keep the existing deck structure. They saved our deck from collapsing helped us solidify it for the next 6-10 years.

Although it was not a cheap project, I would highly recommend Sheppard's and Hammer Time!. They were both very customer-focused and professional.

The company representative was here to review the damage and came when the insurance adjuster was here to go over the damage with him.  His painter Kiki is extremely conscientious and thorough and does a terrific job!
The roofers were not their main crew, but did a good job.  When removing old roofing 2 window screens were damaged and Sheppard's company replaced them for me.  The company representative came to do clean up of the yard following the roofing project and then had the painter come back to touch up any areas that needed it after the roofers left.

They were very courteous. They have missed a spot, just one little rail was missing. We called them and they came right out and fixed it.

I contacted Sheppards to get an estimate to repair a significan amount of cedar siding repair.  We had been told that the siding had to be totally replaced and could not be repaired in certain areas.  I was very impressed by Gary Sheppards's knowledge of the type of siding and his confidence that his company could adequately repair the siding.  It is worth noting that a couple of companies I contacted seemed overwhelmed by the scope of the project and did not complete the bidding process.  Gary also mentioned that Sheppard's would competitively bid the roof repair and the deck repair. On the date specified the workers showed up on time.  They worked tirelessly and completed the work in the timeframe outlined at the onset.  I cannot give enough credit to Sheppards for the scope of the work, the quality of the work and the timliness of the work.

However, although the quality of the work was very good, that is not even the best part.  The most impressive part of this process is after all of the money had been paid and the project completed.  I have had the experience that at this juncture you cannot get the contractor back for minor revisions or corrections.  Gary Sheppard belies this sterotype.  When we had a few inspection items arise as we are selling our house, he quickly addressed them in writing and has come back several times to ensure that all issues were adequately addressed and any minor issues fixed.  I cannot say enough about how important this is.  Gary's work ethic is incomparable and I greatly appreciate his willingness to make sure that every single issue addressed to customer satisfaction.  I feel very lucky that we found Sheppards and have absolutely no complaints about the quality of the work and the price we paid.  I highly recommend Sheppards and am so happy with the work performed.

The guy that came out did a great job. He got it done quickly and just in time for my mom to come over. I would rate him highly.

Our insurance company fixed most of the charges. I liked how they worked with our insurance company. Their painting crew was good.

I have recommended them many time with great results! They are an honest, hard working company. They are also very polite! They offer high quality work at a reasonable rate. The price I paid was actually lower than other estimate I received. They really go above and beyond for their customers. They will not paint over another contractor's negligence. They do the repairs necessary to ensure the work is done right.

My home was in Southwest Littleton area. The painting began late October 2006 and the crew was there every day early. I watched as my house was dismantled and then put back together with new wood. Everything that had to go did and the attention to detail was amazing! I used to give directions to my house to friends and say ''it's the ugly green house'', now it's the showcase. The pricing was extremely fair and I'm so glad I didn't go with vinyl or steel siding because all of my neighbors did and the siding warps. My house looks great and I can't recommend Sheppard's Painting highly enough! I sold my home in record time and I wish I'd had Tom Sheppard paint it years ago, so I could have enjoyed it longer. P.S. It was the only company that gave me a 10 year warranty.

The painters did a good job. They had to come back and touch up some areas a few days later, but overall we are very pleased with the service they performed. Our house has received many compliments since its recent new paint job.

WITH THE TOTALITY OF THE WORK COMPLETED I WOULD HAVE TO SAY WE WERE VERY HAPPY. THE PROFESSIONAL CHARACTER OF THE WORK CREW WAS APPARENT, AS WAS THE ATTENTION TO DETAIL. ALSO THE RESPONSIVENESS OF THE MANAGEMENT TEAM WAS GOOD AND MUCH APPRECIATED.
