"The customer is upset and not telling the truth what so ever. I don't normally speak bad of someone, but I don't appreciate what he wrote of my company. We were originally told by him that it was wood floor underneath the laminate that we were to remove. Then when we got there to do the job, there was tile underneath that we had to remove and the customer had ordered the wrong material. It took another, can't remember, about 4-[Member Information Removed] weeks for the new material to come in. Then when we went back, it still was not the right material, but we installed it anyway at his request. We had to shave the ends of the laminate to conform to his old laminate. We told him that it wasn't going to look great, he knew that but called us and told us that he wasn't happy anyways. Then we sent a third crew down there, and redid it again. Came out a little better, but not much, and again I told him that if he would get the right material, we would come back down and do it again for free. After not hearing from him for about two weeks, I left him a message saying that he would need to pay for the job. Did not get a response for about another week. Left him a message saying that I would put a lien on him for the non payment. I was willing to go back down and fix it for free, but after reading this review, I would not like anything to do with him now or in the future."
We scheduled work to begin during the week of October 12, however, I could actually start sooner so he graciously moved the date forward to October 8. The work started and when the laborers removed the carpet, we found old laminate tile underneath. They called Pat, Pat revised the bid to include demo of the laminate (another $800) and I negotiated him down to $700. They removed the tile and, in two days, laid the flooring. The floor looks great. The laborers could maybe have used more care replacing the trim, but I'm nitpicking at that point.
The problem arose once they put the LVT on the stairs. The same laborers who installed the flooring and did a great job, installed the LVT on the stairs. They worked for nearly 10 hours gluing the LVT to the stairs. It looked horrible. Upon inspection, there were half a dozen issues that required attention. Pat was very receptive to my concerns and promised to correct them.
Pat came over the next day to look at the stairs. The laborers came with him. We looked at the stairs and Pat agreed they needed some fixing, but mentioned he told me at the beginning that one of the issues I had would exist no matter what. He and the laborers offered fixes, but the main problem is that the LVTs just looked terrible on the stairs. There was messy caulking, awkward nosings, and the glue holding the LVTs to the risers was already failing. I told Pat the LVTs simply wouldn't do and that I would like them to remove everything and simply sand and stain the hardwood underneath. Pat and I scheduled the work.
Pat scheduled a hardwood subcontractor to come over, but the contractor canceled twice at the last minute. Pat apologized and offered his best subcontractor and we scheduled the fix. The contractor came over, took one look at the stairs, determined that the old laminate could not be removed from the hardwood without causing too much damage, and then left. Pat called me to explain. Understandably, he was frustrated and, just like me, wanted the project to be completed. He said would have to repair the LVT or put carpet over the stairs. He also quoted me a complete stair replacement, but it was rather high at $1600-$1700. I told him I would think about it and get back to him.
I called him two days later and we discussed. I determined that I really just wanted hardwood and his bid was too high. Regardless, I wouldn't have had his company complete the work because it was obvious he wanted to get paid and move on. I didn't think this was a recipe for a successful stair renovation. I thanked Pat for the work on the floor and we agreed to an amount of $6300 for the flooring. He did not make me pay him $400 for the stairs.
In conclusion, Pat is responsive and wants to get the work done. He is also reasonably priced. The thoroughness and quality may, however, be lacking. I admit that my situation was weird, so others may not share my experience.
"Thank you [member name removed], It was a pleasure doing business with you and your wife."
"Its been 2 years cant remember the job, I doubt very seriously that we would tell them that we would come back in an hour. and then not come back that is just not the way we do business. If a customer has the slightest problem and calls us we would come back right away with no questions asked. That is just the way we do business. always, and always, and always"
"Thank you [Member Name Removed], we work hard to keep all of our customers happy. We appreciate it."
"We ordered the tile off of the measurements that the customer gave us. When we arrived to the home the bathroom was bigger than what we expected. We got the extra tile to the home within 2 hours of knowing and we finished the job in 3 days, and we did not charge them any extra. Some people you just cant please. We wish them all the best."
"All our installers were busy and she wanted it right away.We only had a one man crew left.Still it was a big job with a lot of furniture, and we did an excellent job in a timely fashion with a 1 day notice. Some people you just can't satisfy. We wish both [member name removed] and her husband all the best."
"This is not a typical occurrence. We will be contacting this person and scheduling to get in there and fix this to 100% satisfaction. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We look forward in doing business again with John & Amal."
"Had we known that the customer was un-happy we would have come back and re finished her floor. If that was not at all possible we would have replaced the flooring for no charge. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused her."
"I cant get hold of this lady to fix any wrong that we might have done seance that's what we do. Any job any problem we fix it.Maybe she will see this and call me."
