"We appreciate you take the time to do this review, We apologize for your less than optimal experience. The office tries their best to stay on top of, and follow up on all of our craftsmen'[Member Information Removed] projects. This does take a united effort of communication from the field, and unfortunately that did not happen. If you have any other questions, please feel free to call the office at 303-727-9600"
"Handyman Matters does warranty our work and did refund some of the payment for the correction of the work."
"Thank you for your vote of confidence. We look forward to working with you again."
"THe work was completed on 10/27/2016 Handyman Matters warranties our labor. We left follow up messages requesting feed back on; 11/3 LM 11/3 Happy and all taken care of and rated Handyman Matters a 10 ( the highest) 11/3 Called (Member name removed) and asked if she would remove or change the Yelp and Angie's List posting."
"The previous contractor made a mess of the tile project. [Member Name Removed] expected Handyman Matters to come in and correct the poor job. Handyman Matters advised that the entire job had to be re-done. We walked away from the project after one day."
"Handyman Matters warranties our work. Waiting 3 years to post a review is unfair. If we had know at that time the office could have sent someone out to the location to correct the work. After every job the office calls as follow up on the quality of work. Three messages were left with no return phone call."
"We have never worked for this customer name. This address does not exist in our database. I called [Member Name Removed] and he said that he never hired Handyman Matters to do any work."
The price was a little higher than I expected, but it was definitely worth it. My house is roughly 1200 sq. ft. and the total cost was $1500.
"Thank you (Member name removed) for your vote of confidence. Handyman Matters hopes to work with you again."
"Thank you for your positive review [Member Name Removed], We look forward to hearing from you again for more work."
"Thank you for your vote in confidence in our company. Please give us a call if you have any other projects that need completed."
"Handyman Matters hires employees and the receipts are used for accounting purposes. Copies can be provided. Our craftsmen are background checked and the accusation of being violated does not fit with the character of our employees. THe craftsman was available to do the other projects but [Member Name Removed] said she did not want him to do the work according to the craftsman."
I was not, as they do not provide an itemized bill before asking for payment, and even after paying, I had to make a special request for an itemized invoice... which was then provided promptly. Their accounting system is not setup to do this.
We hired Handyman Matters to do a small job of installing blinds on two windows. The handyman did an adequate job on that chore, so we asked him if his company also painted. We (my husband and I) have lived in our home eight years, long enough for the paint to need to be refreshed, particularly the trim. He said that, he was a trained painter and had done quite a bit of painting work. Since it was close to Christmas, we asked if he could get to our paint job after the holidays. He said he would reschedule some things so he could do the work the next week, prior to the holidays so we would have the painting done before Christmas. We asked him what we would need to do in order to prepare for him to do the work. He asked if we had any leftover trim paint that he could use. If we didn't, we would need to buy the paint. My husband showed him the leftover paint in our garage (several cans of different colors and varieties - flat, gloss, semi-gloss) that was used to paint our entire house. We asked him if he would tell us what to buy so we would be sure to have the correct supplies and not waste time when he returned to do the work. We emphasized to him that we really wanted to use the same paint for this freshen up work. The handyman selected a can and handed it to my husband, telling him that he needed to purchase that exact paint. My husband asked him a number of questions about the paint purchase, including what he should do if that exact paint wasn't available, and the handyman informed him that he was sure it was available and that he should just take the can with him to the store to show the salesperson what he needed. That's what we did. The handyman also gave us a list of other supplies that we needed in order for him to complete the work. We purchased everything he said he needed.
On the day the work was supposed to be completed, he arrive an hour and a half late, explaining that a staff meeting had run over, and he apologized. He got right to work but was interrupted throughout the day with phone calls which were obviously from prospective employers. He frequently interrupted his work to take those calls and arrange appointments for interviews. He did not finish the work we had contracted for him to do, but left and said Eric would contact us to set another appointment for the work to be finished. He also, as he was leaving, mentioned that we would need to be careful with washing the trim because it was a "different" paint and we would only be able to get the dirt off with a Magic Eraser. Anything else would be problematic. I checked the trim he painted earliest in the day, the only part that was dry, and realized he had used flat wall paint instead of semi-gloss trim paint throughout our house. He did not mention that problem until he was ready to walk out the door.
We complained about the work and were told that Eric would contact us the next day. The call never came. We complained again and were told that Eric was very busy but would contact us three days hence. That call never came. We did receive a call from someone asking about how pleased we were with the work so far. She wanted to send someone out to finish the job. As a result of, a different handyman was dispatched. He looked at the paint job and the first thing he said was that the wrong paint was used. He called Eric who told him to purchase some semi-gloss paint, correct the problem and complete the work that hadn't been completed. He did purchase the paint and "touched up" a few spots very poorly. It looks worse now than it did before he did any painting. Where he worked, we have splotches of semi-gloss with flat paint showing through. In some places, he applied paint so heavily that he it looks like multiple layers of paint have been applied instead of the single coat. On the new painting he did, the scuff marks show through quite clearly. We were not charged for the work this person did. As he left, he mentioned he would have Eric call us at the end of the day to see if we were pleased with the work because Handyman Matters would make it right for us and be sure that we are happy with their work. Eric didn't call.
A customer service person called to see if we are pleased with the work. When we told her we were not, she indicated she would have Eric call us. Eric didn't call. Sandy called.
As a result of our conversation, Sandy indicated that Handyman Matters would not take responsibility for the incorrect paint or the shoddy workmanship. She offered to have another handyman come out, use the paint they purchased, and repaint the entire thing. For that, Handyman Matters would charge us their normal and customary $70.00 per hour fee but they would forego their $45.00 service charge. I indicated this was unacceptable, that Handyman Matters is responsible for their work and should make it right at no charge. They should correct their mistakes. When I told her I would not spend another cent with a company whose work was inferior, particularly when the company would not stand behind their work, she indicated she had another call coming in and she would call me back. So far, no call back.
"Thank you so much for your positive review. Handyman Matters values our customers and appreciate the opportunity to serve you. It would be a great compliment if you contact us again for future needs and refer us to family, friends and colleagues."
"Handyman Matters appreciates the positive report on the repair our craftsman completed. The office schedules specific appointments for the qualified craftsman to arrive and complete home repair and remodels. We are bonded, insured and warrantee labor for one year."
"Thank you for your positive review of our craftsmen's work and for the recommendation to your neighbor. Our company strives for excellent customer experience and we appreciate your feedback to help us achieve that."
