Elkhorn did an excellent job from start to finish. They came and took care of us on a below zero day. They were caring and prompt to make sure that we were not without heat. We had them install air conditioning as well. We would recommend them to everyone.

The planning for this project was very detailed and helped the installation to go smoothly. There was a problem with the new thermostat, but was repaired the same day that I called in for help.

Elkhorn was one of three companies from whom I solicited bids. They were not the low bidder on the job, but based on reputation, price, and responsiveness, I believe they provided the best value for the money. Elkhorn was prompt in their response to my request for a proposal to replace an old heating and AC system. Their salesman, Justin, arrived on time and listened intently as I explained the problems with the old system. We discussed several different options with him explaining the benefits of each and providing a price for equipment and installation. After selecting Elkhorn and scheduling an installation date, their technicians, Steve and Ernesto, arrived on time and did an outstanding job of equipment installation and checkout. All work was done in a very professional manner and to my complete satisfaction. I will use Elkhorn in the future and would recommend them without reservation.

It's too bad that Elkhorn handles Trane products. The Elkhorn team itself does a very good job and for the first year after installation of our Trane furnace I was very happy . Unfortunately problems started to crop up in the second year and the Trane warranty REQUIRES the homeowner to pay for labor (parts are free for 5 years) after year one. So cheap parts, which the service technician stated were obviously defective, cost HUNDREDS of dollars to replace because of the required service call. The Trane warranty isn't worth a penny after the first year. Too bad that the good people of Elkhorn have their review dragged down by this terrible Trane warranty.
Response from Elkhorn Heating & Air Conditioning Inc
"[Member Name Removed] thank you for your kind words about our professionalism. We try very hard to take each and every client's concerns into consideration on every job. I just wanted to reach back out because I think that maybe your rating might have been more geared towards your feelings about the Trane warranty and parts than about Elkhorn's service. I totally understand your frustration when you purchase a system and then have an issue. However, I'm hoping that you realize that your Trane warranty covered labor for the first 2 years and parts for the first 10 years. The repair that was performed on your furnace was more than 3.5 years after installation. We are a family owned business that works really hard to make sure that every client is satisfied to the best of our ability and I hope you will take that in consideration when you are making your recommendations and perhaps reconsider the rating that you gave. We really do appreciate your business and hope that we can help you in the future."

Install took several days, as it was a big job with ducting, coolant and electrical install needed along with the units installed.

Went great. Installed on time as expected. System works great. Other than some difficulty scheduling I had no issues with Elkhorn and everyone was great.

They were fantastic!! I knew it was going well when two technicians showed up with two trucks, within the first 30 minutes of the time window and THEY PUT ON SHOE COVERS BEFORE THE ENTERED MY HOME. That small detail told me that they were going to be very professional. They thoroughly inspected the issue, provided me with a detailed description of the problem and their plan to fix it. Unfortunately, the person who initially put in the Rinnai several years ago, had never installed one before and was actually a plumber. As a result, the exhaust pipe was corroded and leaking because it had not been installed correctly. Additionally the entire system had not been set up and was still on the factory presets (for instance it had not been set up for high altitude) Needless to say..... we were very lucky that it worked so well as long as it did. Despite being told by another company that it would take until the first of December to get the pipe parts ordered and replaced, Fuzzy and the guys were able to locate new parts within an hour and correctly install the new pipe within a few hours (they actually brought over a third technician to get the job done quickly). The price was more than fair for the parts and excellent, professional service and given the fact that the job was completed in a few hours instead of a few weeks.

Will use again!

For new house that furnace had not been serviced in a while.  Cleaned well enough that it got rid of noises the furnace was making.

My Rinnai tankless heater was previously maintained by Broomhall brothers before I moved in. For my first 2.5 years in this house, it ran flawlessly. The first time it acted up, I tried Elkhorn because Broomhall Brothers were too busy to get here quickly. Elkhorn came out and charged me $278 for diagnostics and a cleaning. Ever since then, I am getting an Error Code 12 every 8 months, and Elkhorn is charging me $278 each time for diagnostics and a cleaning. I spoke to the Owner Kimberly, who was rather dismissive. She says I must just live in a part of town with lots of moths who like to fly into the combustion chamber. I wonder why that was never an issue before her company began doing my repairs.
I feel the technicians here are either not competent to work on this model water heater, or they are intentionally doing a sub-par job so I will need my next $278 repair in the near future.
Broomhall Brothers are still too busy to get out here on short notice, but I'm taking that as a good sign and switching back to them.

Gary, Elkhorn's president, inspected our home (an older house that has been modified over the years) and recommended a swamp cooler due to peculiarities in our ductwork. HIs estimate was far lower than others we'd gotten. We went ahead with the installation and this has been a real lifesaver! The unit has performed admirably during this unbearable summer, the installation went just as expected and the service personnel were great. I would use this company for any relevant needs. The increase in our power bill has been negligible and we have been very comfortable all through this scorching summer.

I HIGHLY recommend Elkhorn to address any of your A/C, furnace or water heater issues. Fantastic service, products, installation and professionalism.I did my own research on brands and based off of consumer reports and other reviews I chose American Standard for my new A/C, compressor and furnace. The water heater is Bradford White. They came out in a timely fashion to look over my house, run their diagnostics and measurements for correct size and type and get in a bid. I feel it was a great price for everything we swapped out and they were able to set up the appointment 13 days from the bid, crazy fast for such a hot summer in Denver and the amount of A/C isues going on.They took care of all the permitting and made sure it was acceptable with The City of Denver to place the new compressor in a different location than where the original one was. (They checked and it had to be at least 5 feet from the property line, which worked out great for us because it moved it farther from our outdoor living space so we don't hear it as much when out there. That and the fact the unit is so darn quite we can barely tell when its running.)All of their service technicians are company employees, not contractors, and they specifically told me it would be a 2 day operation to get it all properly installed.I had another company give me a bid before them and they said they could do it in 1 day, I gather because they contract out their service hands and quicker install regardless of quality = more jobs = more money.I did a lot of research on A/C companies and this was a huge topic on what to avoid and what companies to use based off of the time they say they can do the job in and if they contract out the service hands. It's been over a week so far with 100+ days and everything is working fantastic, it actually runs less than our old one and the compressor is soooo much quiter, as it sits close to our outdoor living space and we wanted the quitest one on the market, boy did we choose wisely.Overall just a great experience and so far everything is running perfectly. In fact, because of the great service on the A/C side I decided to let Elkhorn's Electrical division do a $7,000 electrical job on our house. If things change I will certainly update this review, but I doubt I will have to do that.

They probably won't quote the cheapest price but the product quality, detailed assessments, and professional work is well worth it.  They are on time, work clean, crews are professional and personable.  Their guarantees are not lip service.   I have recommended them to many people and none have regretted it.

It was a very positive experience.  We attempted to get 4 bids.  Elkhorn was the first and the highest (by about $100), another company came in around $1,050 and two others gave me prices over the phone but never stopped by.  We opted to go with Elkhorn because of their attitude, professionalism and promptness.

The owner came to our house and went over all of our options (including tankless) and gave us a very simple and straightforward estimate.  We were able to schedule the actual installation very quickly.  The two service techs who installed the water heater were very nice, wore booties in our house and out down large cloth coverings in our hallways to prevent a mess.  After they left, you couldn't even tell they had been there - very clean.  The new water heater was also explained to us thoroughly (they're so simple, though).

With our new perfect 40 gallon tank, we can now take baths (something we couldn't do with our previous tank), and the hot water lasts a very long time.

Though they were more expensive, the additional $100-$200 was worth it for peace of mind.

I contacted Elkhorn in March of 2010 to see about having a hot water tank installed. Everyone that I spoke to was very nice, the tank was installed on a timely basis, and I was very happy with the brand that I was sold. There was just one problem. I noticed in January (2012) that there was a funky-looking, greenish-white "foam" on both the hot & cold water connections that had run down on top of the tank. It also appeared that there was a little bit of water leaking from one of the pipes. I was having someone install a kitchen sink the first week of February, so I figured I would have them check out the tank while they were here. When the plumber looked at it, he said that there should have been something called a "dielectric connector" between the copper pipe and the tank. Long story short- it cost me approx. $125.00- plus parts- to repair the connections. Also, one of the dip tubes appears to be damaged. And to add insult to injury, even though we couldn't see inside the tank, I was told that if the dip tube was damaged- the inside of the tank was most likely damaged as well. I don't know, but I'm guessing that I'm going to be replacing my tank before I really should have to. I'm also wondering if the improper installation is going to void the 6 year warranty.
I wasn't an Angie's List customer in 2010- I saw this company on Tom Martino's Troubleshooter Referral List- and the comments were mostly favorable. I'm wondering if this was a fluke, or if anyone else has had the same problem. Either way, I'm a little upset that this tank isn't even 2 years old yet and I've already had to repair it.
I realize that the name of the company is Elkhorn Heating & Air Conditioning- not Elkhorn Plumbing- but since they advertise that they install hot water tanks, shouldn't someone have known about the dielectric?

The guy came to check on my furnace. I thought that my basement flooding has caused damage to my furnace. He said he would give me an estimate the next morning. I didn't hear from him for two days so I called him to see what was going on. An office person told me that the furnace manifold was broken but they wouldn't do anything about it until the basement was cleaned up. I had someone else come and look at my furnace. He told me that the manifold was fine even though it was old. He was able to repair it by installing a new fan and motor becuase the motor had died. I was disappointed with the company because they never called me to advise what the situation was even after I paid an $80 service fee.
