The owner gave us a reasonable estimate. We agreed. He then spent the next 3 weeks working on our front steps. He couldnt remove all of the previous steps, so he ended up building on top of them. Neighbors complained that our front yard was always torn up with tools lying all over the place. His large (F550) truck was always blocking the street. He routinely brought personal drama to the workplace, and used our front yard as his office.... always on the phone and smoking cigarettes. In the end, the steps were completed, and he gave us a "discount" for letting him use our front yard as his office. Concrete spatters were lefts all over our brick wall and driveway... something that we will have to clean up. Also, shrubbery was planted incorrectly (root ball wasnt broken up), and the shrubs died within 2 weeks. We successfully planted new ones ourselves.

Doucette (the son), who took the order and generated the bid, was told that the level of the concrete was to be held just below the siding on the house. Doucette (the father) was there when the concrete was poured and ignored that specification. The concrete contacts the siding. The stairs were not framed square. There is a boot print in the stain. They did come back and grind the stairs so that they are closer to square. The workers cleaned their concrete tools on the lawn, leaving thin pools of gray sludge in many spots all over the yard.
