Built Right Construction

The floors look good. We ended up paying a little over $11,000 for them. This included an inlaid design of wood in the dining room. What I didn't like about the floors were that we told Steve Combs our contractor that we were moving in on July 8 and nothing was done by the first week of July so we had to move our move in date to July 15th. We were also suppose to put hard wood into our master bedroom, but Steve forgot about it (although it was on our original quote and the wood for the master had been delivered a month before) so we weren't able to do it because were were out of time. The electrical work is okay. The lights aren't as bright as I would like them and there are still little patches by some of the lights that need to be drywalled and repainted. The main problem with the electrical is that it was done last (after the floors and painting) and the electrician made a huge mess and cut lots of wholes in the walls and ceilings that those wholes then had to be drywalled and repainted, which we had to pay for additionally. The painting took forever and the painters just complained a lot. We were charged considerably for anything additional we added, but we didn't get much of a discount for what we decided not to do. For instance, painting the upstairs guest bathroom was $300, but forgoing painting our kitchen and family room and the two story slanted ceilings (which would have required scaffolding to paint) only gave us a credit of $500. I was most upset about the painting. We paid Steve two weeks ago with the understanding that the painters would come back and put another coat on the dining room, do touchups and remove the white paint they got all over the brown wood of our staircase. They haven't been back and I've left four messages over the past week and a half asking when I can expect them to finish. Steve hasn't even called back to tell me he's working on it. I would not recommend using Built Right. I went with Built Right in the beginning because Steve was recommended to me and his prices were better than my other quotes. The disorganization, the lack of communication and the additional charges really make me wish we had used someone whose quote may have been initially higher but who would have gotten the jobs done in a timely, organized manner.
