ACCENT DESIGN BUILD

As an unsatisfied Accent customer on my recent whole house remodel, I would caution you about using this company for a large scale project and then only on a and acirc;??cost plus fixed-feeand acirc;?? basis, with some retainage held on every progress payment. I recommend insisting on monetary delay penalties when contract milestones are not met. I would further recommend you require Accent to provide you with multiple bids for major subcontracting portions of the job and disclose any potential conflicts of interest and/or rebate arrangements between Accent, its employees and/or major subcontractors. Quality issues have just come to light in the recent cold spell. A plumber has advised me frozen pipes were caused by failure to replace insulation around pipes affected by the remodel and a furnace repairman reported insufficient household heating was caused by an improperly installed furnace. Overall, my remodel project was an unhappy experience, fraught with surprises, unmet deadlines, spotty communications, and ended up a great deal over budget.

.We had never done anything on this scale before, in terms of scope and money., so the process was scary. I interviewed several contractors and chose Accent, based on experience, integrity and professionalism.  Brevan (Accent owner) acted as our project manager. We used an architect to draw plans, which was a good idea. The subs all did good work--if something needed to be corrected or redone, it was. Brevan worked with us to keep the price down. We had confidence that everything would be done to our satisfaction, and it was!
