Walked in to a very sketchy looking store and should have listened to that little voice in my head, but emotions ruled and I didn't. I paid $150 up front for a diagnostic fee that would be applied to the repair cost if any. I was also told that they'd put a rush on it since I had the gig coming up. After band practice a couple of days later, I realized that the problem might be my guitar (a bad jack) and not the amp. I called them to halt any repairs, hoping to get my deposit back but was told "it's already open and on the table, we'll call you with the diagnosis".
At this point I accepted the fact that I'd probably just wasted $150 for a "cleaning". Got the call from some guy I could barely understand, and he told me what a great amp I had and what I needed to do to take care of it to prevent future damage. I was then shocked to learn that my amp needed a $350 "motherboard". Sensing something fishy, I told them not to do anything with it until I had a chance to think about it.
That's when I decided to look them up online. Multiple bad reviews detailing problems like mine made it clear that these guys seem completely dishonest.
I went in and spoke with Omar (the manager) and expressed my concerns about their bad reviews and the fact that my amp
probably didn't need a new motherboard. His reply was to point out the couple of good reviews they had received (probably posted by employees?) and he asked that I give them a chance to prove themselves. I resisted this offer and then he offered to fix my amp for $120, but it wouldn't have the super duper warranty that the $350 fix would.
Knowing that something wasn't right, I told him I wanted my amp put back together as it was when I brought it in and that I wanted it to work like it did before I dropped it off.
When I went in the next day to pick it up, I was told by the salesman that I had to sign off on it before they would turn it on, to which I refused. He got huffy and had Omar come over -- he said the same thing. Again, I refused to sign before I knew that it powered up. He gave me an excuse about corporate watching through the cameras and getting in trouble if he didn't follow procedures. Disgusted, I signed it, and let him know how shady they were. Omar got pissy and finally plugged it in. Seeing that it powered
up, I then left.
Following that horrible experience, I took it to a guy that was referred by a friend. He took a day to look at it and determined that it was a bad tube ($25), not the motherboard that needed to be fixed.
I wish I had looked online before going in to see these clowns. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS, unless you like brain damage and
wasting money.
"Please come in and we will beat the best price for you on another bulb if you would like a backup or if you havent purchased one yet. Our prices on bulbs is higher because we lead the industry by offering up to 2 year warranties on our bulbs."
The lamp was wrapped in bubble wrap and not in a box. We got it home and my husband started to unwrap it and heard a rattle. When we unwrapped it the outside rim was broken and the inside reflective surface of the lamp was broken. We called immediately and they were getting ready to close but told us to bring it back on Monday and they would replace it. My husband went back on Monday and they gave him a song-and-dance routine that he had to have broken it, because the bubble wrap would keep it from breaking, and they were not going to replace it (the salesman who sold us the lamp claimed to not remember selling us a lamp on Saturday -- even though his name was on the receipt). The salesman told my husband that he would lose money if he replaced the lamp -- my husband asked why that was his problem. The salesman showed my husband the large box all the lamps come in and that they are all individually wrapped in bubble wrap and told him that they never break. My husband bet the man that he could drop one of the bubble wrapped lamps and it would break -- the salesman took the bet. He got an old lamp that was entact, wrapped it in bubble wrap and dropped it. It had the exact same type of damage as the lamp we purchased. At this point the salesman had no choice but to replace the lamp, but informed my husband that it would not be replaced again and there was no warranty on the lamp.
There was a total lack of professionalism, the sales staff were not knowledgeable or respectful -- basically the experience and customer service stunk!!!
