He changed the original start date the week before the job. He made me go to Home Depot with him to pay for the fence supplies. Then at the end of his first day of work insisted that I paid him for that days work. I told him I would pay him when the job he was hired for was complete. At this point he threatened to not return to finish the job. He never returned and sent me texts implying that he was "helping me out".
