Sewing Machine Repair, Vacuum Cleaners
I had the wrong filter in my vacuum, which was causing most of the problem. Other that getting a bit of gentle teasing for not noticing the difference in filters, everything went very well. The vacuum works perfectly now. My sewing machine had not needed service in over 50 years (Yay, Pfaff!), so it was rather long overdue. Now it hums happily and works brilliantly and I am one happy customer of Sew & Vacuum World! (Also I love Taco, the little Chihuahua "greeter" at the store.) (The cost information provided with this review is for the sewing machine, not the vacuum.

Wow! We took a vacuum in to get an estimate, expecting the worst. Steve was working on another Dyson for someone when we walked in. After a few minutes, he had theirs running great. He put my vacuum on the counter, and started working on it as we watched. My husband is quite handy and had already replaced a part but was stumped what else to do. Steve knew right away, and gave us an estimate based on the 4 parts we needed, cleaned it up, put it back together, educating us all the while. He charged us only for the parts and $39 for his time.We were out of there in 45 minutes. Well worth it. And what a sense of humor, we laughed the entire time. We recommend him highly.

Tony is great! I took my machine in, thinking I'd have to leave it with him. Instead, I showed him how the thread tension was really messed up, he took out the bobbin case, and had me feel that there was a tiny burr on the end of the bobbin thread arm. He rubbed the burr smooth with emory cloth and put the bobbin back into the machine. We tested it and it was perfect! This whole inident took about 20 minutes, including having a nice chat. I would MOST DEFINITELY use him again! His base charge of $39.95 was more than reasonable for as good as he is!

I have a Sears vacuum. Whenever I've taken it to Sears, they charge a minimum of something like $60, even if they just have to change the belt! Well, the belt broke again, and I tried to replace it myself. However, apparently, I put it on the wrong prong and it locked up the brush. Someone suggested this place up at Simms near 6th Avenue. I took it there. He didn't charge me for putting the belt on, showed me what I'd done wrong, and offered to do it for me again when I need it. He also suggested (didn't push) some Miele (sp?) bags for it, that he said would work better than the long Sears bags, and wouldn't cut off the suction as the bag fills. So, I'm trying those, as well. Nice guy, great sense of humor. I'll go back!
