The first appointment went very well. Ryan was punctual and convinced me that his company had experience. He made it sound like he would do the work with perhaps some help. He made a horrible recommendation to use 80% #1 and 20% #2 to make the floor "match" the existing hard wood floor in the kitchen and hall. The existing flooring had all #1. #2 wood has tons of marks and little short boards. I told him I liked a more pure looking floor but that I wanted the floors to match. Using any #2 was a horrible recommendation especially to someone that said they do not like a lot of character in the floor. We let him do the work when we were out of town so he would not have to worry about scheduling around us. Terrible desicion. Always be around to watch a contractor you do not know. He ended up subbing the work out to another company "Stick Boy." I do not believe he told the sub that the #1 and #2 were mixed so the wood was installed with big patches of #2. He was not finished by the time we returned home and took an extra week to complete the job. It took several trips for them to finish the punch list. The flush floor vents were sealed in with the polyurethane and he still has not fixed the vents. We can?t put the dampers in because we can?t remove the vents. He will not come fix the problem. I recommend calling at least 3 sources before hiring someone.
