A-1 Heating and Air Conditioning is locally owned and operated since 1969. We are a small company that specializes in Heating and Air Conditioning service, equipment replacement and indoor air quality. We strive to make customer service number one priority and provide the best service to our customers. A service fee $79.00 is charge on most calls and as always, equipment replacement estimates are free. We are available 24 hours a day including weekends and Holidays for your convenience and emergencies. We are NATE certified and always continuing education for our technicians. Ask about our Comfort Membership program!

I called A1 when the company that normally services our HVAC system couldn’t get to our home for several days. A1 told me they could have a technician at our home later the same day. Not only did they get a tech to our home that day, he was there 2 hours prior to the estimated time frame. I cannot praise Gered Stovall, the tech that worked on our unit, enough. He quickly diagnosed that the unit was low on refrigerant and replaced it to get the a/c working, but he then worked to find out why the unit was low on refrigerant and while it was a fairly costly repair that couldn’t be completed the same day, Gered and the staff at A1 worked diligently to come up with an economical and viable solution. Gered was, professional, communicative, prompt and incredibly knowledgeable when it came to servicing our a/c and I would recommend him and A1 to anyone!

Didn't find anything wrong with the furnace lighting but got it to start working. Checked the other parts of the furnace and they were okay. Nice guy, and he came out the day before Thanksgiving, when everyone else was closed. He was in and out in 25 minutes

Not well. No air for the night. Wanted to replace the unit, which would cost over $600.00, and would take until July 2 to replace. Called another company, checked the wiring, topped off freon, and cost was considerable lower without the need to replace the compressor and condenser. System fixed the first time with other company!

"We recommended replacing the compressor while it was still under manufacturers warranty due to refrigerant oil very burnt, which tells me the compressor is getting very hot and will fail. Therefore replacing the compressor while still under manufacturers warranty will save the customer quite a bit of money."

Everything went well. After calling A-1 and setting up the appointment it was requested to leave the furnace off after it turned off on its own. The day that they were scheduled to come to our house the furnace did not turn off like it had been. A-1 then had me wait until the furnace turned off on its own again so they could properly diagnose the problem. After a few days the furnace did turn off on its own and after a call in the morning they were at our house fixing it an hour later.

See above for details. Since I am on ai fixed income, A-1 was able to finance me for a six month period, which was the only thing that allowed me to get the work done. Darren is an excellent technician and I will sk for him again by name should I have any furnace or AC needs. He was efficient, friendly, and thorough and most of all, their prices were fair.

I received a call from their office before the appointment, both to make sure that I was there and to inform me that the technician, Slade, was on schedule. He was prompt in arriving. I didn't hover while he worked, but Slade seemed to take enough time to check the air conditioning system out thoroughly. It apparently needed coolant, even though he couldn't find any leak in the system. I would have liked the repair cost to be less, of course, but but I was given a discount via the Angie's List connection.

"Thank you for the review. It is good to see no big problems were found. The difference between a gas fireplace and gas logs are the Gas Fireplace is behind a sealed piece of glass and brings in outside air to the burner thus it does not pull air from the heated space to then be sent up the vent. Gas logs have an open air space (some do have glass doors that can be opened and closed) that pulls air from the heated space for the combustion process and then sends that air up the vent. Gas Fireplaces are much more efficient."

The technician arrived right on time. He was very personable and most proficient. Within just a few minutes he had located the problem.
Someone had done some wiring on the fireplace in the past and there was an open circuit in the wiring. He repaired the problem quickly and the fireplace now works like a charm. He also addressed a noise problem we had with the pilot light. It's now not even noticeable and before you could hear it throughout the room.

Many times we will find other small and sometimes large problems with a system that don't have anything to do with the original compliant, however if the problems don't get repaired they will result in another service call later on."

"Thank you for this great review. Unfortunately we find many companies do not set the refrigerant levels correctly when air conditioners are installed. This is huge in how efficient the system will operate and how long the system will last. I personally will find at least 4 customers every summer that have air conditioners that are grossly over charged. If you want to see your air conditioner die early have someone over charge it. There are few things that can be done to a system that will kill it faster. It is too bad all companies don't take the time to get all there people trained properly so this does not happen."
