So I call the tow company, the truck is towed in (about 10 miles) and later I hear from the service advisor that they have diagnosed the issue as a bad Body Control Module. They say it’s covered under warranty and that and the tow will be covered. They also tell me that there is an ABS warning light on and ask if I want that fixed. I approve and they fix that.
By the end of the following day, the service advisor calls back to say it’s done. Bill for the ABS issue (not warranty) comes to $60 - and by the way, because it's a and quot;fleet vehicle, and quot; not personally owned, the $150 tow is not covered, so the total comes to over $200. and quot;Shouldn't the tow be covered since it was an expense due to a defective part, and quot; I say. The service advisor repeats that it isn't covered. “I have been told now two or three times by the service department that the tow would/should be covered,” I say. “Sorry,” was the reply. I ask to talk to his supervisor. Later, the supervisor calls me and tells me the same thing. So, I ask to talk to the service department manager. I am told he (Kevin Wade) will call me. After waiting four days for Wade to call me, I decide to cut my losses, pay and get my vehicle back, which I have now been without for almost a week.
Update 03/25/14: Service Manager called today and stated that the tow fee would be covered and that his employees had incorrectly charged me for the tow. $150 has been refunded.
"Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback, and we are sorry to hear you had a bad experience. It seems there was a misunderstanding on our side that led us to provide you with some incorrect information. For that we do apologize, and we have taken steps to ensure it won't happen again. It's my understanding that Kevin Wade has since been in touch with you to correct the error and addressed any other concerns. Thank you for the opportunity to fix our mistake, and again we apologize for the trouble."
