Brock was very inexperienced when we first hired him to do our upstairs remodel, and for this reason, it was a lot cheaper than the other quotes we received. For this project he did a good job but did not do any of the ascetics: did not paint, did not redo the hardwood floors, we used his recommendation on the company for cabinets and countertops, etc. He did a good job: laying the tile for the backsplash and kitchen floor, the drywall looked good (before our painters got in there), hung and framed some closet doors but (we built the closets shown) and installed an electric fireplace. Because it was him doing a lot of the work, and we felt we got a good deal, we decided to have him come back to do our basement 6 months later - it was a complete disaster. One thing Brock does well starts the project, but when it comes to finishing he will drag it out, and ultimately leave it for you to complete. The bar and washer/ dryer he has shown, we had to sand, seam and seal the butcher block, (he also provided us wrong measurements and one side has 4 seams cobbled together) the doors were completely crooked and falling off (I spent a weekend completely re-doing them), we had to install the vinyl flooring ourselves because it was not level, even though it was self-leveling flooring, we had to then do our own trim, completely redo the ductwork for the dryer cause it was an afterthought, repaint the entire basement (1100 sq ft). During the end of his job, we had issues with water coming into the basement and he said it was groundwater. After $3000 for a new sub pump and tearing down the entire wall, we found it was the shark bite he used for the copper to pex piping ( I will say he did come out and reframe that wall for free but lost sq footage due to the sub-pump, and the $3000 on one we did not need). We also had issues with the shower pan not draining. He would not take ownership of this, installed a different drain and left us to pick up the pieces. Now what we have visible water damage in our basement, we completely tore out the shower, to find out the shower pan was leaking the entire time, and the shower was not sealed (something he actually gave us push back on). Throughout the entire basement experience, he subcontracted everything and every sub would say the last did something wrong (never the same people), and we have had to spend over $10k and hours upon hours getting it right, after we paid him tens of thousands in the first place. You pay for what you get, and that is cheap work, no pride and a lot of stress. Get someone who takes pride in their work, and will complete the job.
