Engineering went fine. There were several errors on the drawings but those were fixed/updated as needed. The biggest issue was when I asked for a quote, one was never received but I was provided an estimate over the phone of $500. When I received the final invoice it was for almost $800. When I asked why so much more than the estimate, he noted it was due to changes in the design. The only change we made to the design was to change the roof rafters from 2x8 to 2x10 which did not affect any dimensions on the drawing - only some minor note updates. Also charged almost double the allowable mileage rate that is government approved. I would likely not use DGP Engineering again unless an approved "not to exceed" budget (with any changes approved in advance) was provided first.
