About us

We are Grand Junction's transmission and drive train specialists. We are family owned and operated. We work on all makes and models of automatic and standard transmissions, transfer cases, differentials, and drive shafts. We are rebuilders by trade which means we build transmissions right here in house rather than sending units away to another facility for repair. We don't just repair and rebuild units, we also do regular maintenance ( transmission and gear box services) to ensure your vehicle keeps working just the way it was meant to. We are members of the Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association, as members we are able to give our customers a nationwide warranty on transmission overhauls. Our sister shop, Drive Line Service builds and repairs drive shafts for everything from daily drivers to custom crawlers to agricultural equipment to semi trucks and PTOs. Due to problems outside of Baker's Transmissions control it took a little time but they were patient, professional, and fair. I would use the again and recommend the to others. Other shops would not take a look at the whole problem, which Baker Transmission fixed. Old truck is reliable again. Thank you, to the whole staff and especially Glen and Owner for making it right.

Mark, Veta, and their crew did a good job for me. It took a while to get the job done, but I fully expected it would, due to the nature and complexity of the job I wanted done. Mark was great about communicating and updating me on the progress of the project, and always called when he hit a snag or there were additional costs anticipated for the build. They and their staff are good people to work with, and I will go back to them with any other work that I might need.

Glen was very helpful and knowledgeable explaining what was broken in my 1999 Ford F150 automatic transmission. They rebuilt it and I have a good warranty. They do a recheck in 15 days also to look for leaks or burnt fluid. I love the change in the way my truck shifts with the upgrades they added.

They were excellent to work with, kept me up to date as the job progressed. Found a few leaking/weeping seals (rear main on engine and CV shaft seals on transmission) once the transmission was out and recommended replacement now, rather than wait for leak to ruin new clutch down the road.

My 2008 Ford Focus only has 21,000 miles on it.  I bought it from the dealership new with a 5 year 60,000 mile warranty.  3 months after the warranty expired I started getting clutch warning lights, surging and experiencing a failure to shift into 2nd gear most of the time.  Having a pretty bad experience with the dealerships service department in the past, I didn't want to start there, so brought it here to Bakers.  They were happy to help guide me in the right direction.
After a long drawn out negotiation with Ford, they decided to cover about 70% of the repair, which is still very upsetting.  I had it in twice while it was still under warranty (at the dealership's service department) and both times asked them to look at the transmission.  Both times I was told it was fine.  Ford really took me to the cleaners on this one, even after they covered a larger portion of the bill months later.  It was obviously a lemon transmission and their first and final offer was what I ended up having to take.  I'll never buy another Ford, and I highly recommend nobody EVER buying a Ford Focus!!
Thanks again to Bakers for helping me out in a bad situation, you were wonderful!
