It went fine. We are happy with the result, but we wouldn't use them again.
We don't have enough experience with other electricians to know HOW expensive this was, but we didn't like that they don't tell you how much they are going to charge while they are at your house. They do the service, then they leave, and then you get an invoice. When the invoice finally came, about a month later (!) it was for over $500. Over $500 to install one electrical outlet.
We also did not like that the bill was not itemized in any way. There was no breakdown for service charge, labor, or parts. Nothing. We simply got an invoice that said something like "install electrical outlet for washer and dryer -- $508." Without any breakdown of the charges, for all we know, it is an entirely made up number.
Maybe we will discover, when we contact other electricians, that THIS was the going rate for an outlet, but we don't think it is right that you have work done and have no idea how much it will cost until much later, and then you are billed for a random number with no idea of HOW they arrived at that number. For these reasons, cost aside, we won't be using them again.

This was the fourth time we employed this company. It has always done good work at a reasonable price.
On the fourth occasion, however, there was a misunderstanding of the extent of rewiring and the likely cost. So we were stunned when we received a bill far higher than for similar work in the past. We also had to hire a drywaller to repair damage.
Specialized Electric was responsive, however, and in recognition of the misunderstanding they compromised the bill.
This is a very good company.

While the work was completed satisfactory, I believe for the time on the job and what was done, the price of $434.63 was very high. We purchased a voucher worth $200 and we assumed this would cover the work. It did not and we were sent a bill for $234.63. The office is VERY slow in responding and after about six months, Specialized Electric did not want to negotiate their billing, which I paid in full.

This was the first time using Angie's List so I visited Specialized Electric's office to verify if other reviews seemed reasonably accurate. It was clean and orderly. The co-owners (office manager and electrician) were cordial and competent in fielding my questions. An element of luck may have been important because a hard-to-find circuit breaker was within reach. If that hadn't been the case, or if unscrupulous electricians had chosen to say that the circuit breaker wasn't available and that they'd have to replace the entire circuit panel to electrify the house again, I would have had to pay thousands. The following day Eric (trainer) and Gus (trainee) arrived right on time. They allowed me to look over their shoulders and ask questions without annoying them. Since the job wasn't difficult for them and was completed in less than the hourly rate, I did pose an unrelated wiring question but didn't expect them to do anything more than give a verbal opinion. Instead they acted in a way that was 'above and beyond the call of duty' by bringing in their ladder, did a little climbing and tightened a wire from the power pole to the house so it wouldn't drag over the roof. I've held off (5 mo.) on the review to make sure the repair was successful, and it was. The owners demonstrated high ethical standards; no fear-mongering or upselling was involved in the office. The field techs conducted themselves professionally by looking at the job from both the detailed and big picture perspectives. They seemed to be socially adaptable men who could cope with a wide range of customers. They educated me (within limits) and exhibited the right level of intensity and depth of interest in their job. In other words, they weren't complacent nor were they excessively driven by speed/deadlines that might lead to skimping on quality. While this job was relatively minor (and I still wish I could have just screwed in a fuse myself), this contact instilled a good level of confidence in them if additional service is needed in the future.

Workers were polite and friendly but had some difficulty finding where to run the wire up from unfinished area. They were great about switching out a dimmer light switch when done with the outlet. There was no discussion of cost/price and no materials needed other than the wire to the existing outlet, so I was shocked to get the bill for over $300. I had a coupon for $119 and thought that would come somewhat close to covering the cost. I received the invoice and requested an explanation or breakdown of the costs and did not receive any reply or explanation.

The folks showed up on time. Asked to move some elec lines. When finished, they missed an outlet. Then they hesitated when I asked them to complete the job and not wait for me to finish drywall. I got the feeling they just wanted to get out of there.
I got the bill and was really surprised at the cost. Super expensive.
I hired another company to finish the project. It turns out that the guys from Specialized didn't even find a major problem in the panel that my new electric company found.
Wow...would NEVER use Specialized ever again.

"We agree that our electrician wanted to "get out of there." This was a very sketchy situation. We were contacted by you at mid-day for an emergency electrical issue. Even though we were booked solid, one of our electricians agreed to stop by your job after putting in a full work day in order to help you out. He was surprised to find that a real estate agent would self-perform such a job without a permit, and without proper scheduling. Once we learned this, we realized that you were not really looking for a professional electrician, but more like a fly by night guy who will work for bottom dollar. That is not us. We are a professional company and do not wish to work on a shady job such as this. We offer professional service, at a fair price. We understand that you want to save money on a fix & flip; but do not agree with sacrificing safety & quality. We sincerely hope that you disclosed to your buyer that work was not completed with a permit or licensed general contractor, as the board of realtors and the buyer may find this unethical if you did not. Also, we spoke to you after you put up this review, and you agreed that the review was unfair for what had actually happened. You said you were going to retract your review; however that has not happened. For customers considering hiring us for work, we ask that you look at our many other excellent reviews to see the true nature of our customer satisfaction. If you want work done according to electrical code and you want it done ethically, we are the right match. If you are looking for a guy and a truck without insurance, etc. ask this customer who he is using now."

Electrician figured out a very perplexing problem and fixed it. He then creatively installed an outlet in a finished room with no adversity to any of the finishes in the room. Cleaned up well after himself -- he was very respectful of our home. I certainly recommend Specialized Electric Co.

The technicians that Specialized electric were prompt and efficient. The outdoor light that was broken was behind some rock work and the fixed it without damaging the rock. They were pleasant to work with.

This was one of the best experiences I have ever had with a services company. My office needed exterior security lighting fixtures repaired and replaced. I called and an appointment was promptly set up. The technician (Cole) was prompt and efficient. He did a great job. In fact, I called to have some work done at my home (which was done this morning) on an exterior security light. They were again prompt and did a great job. I will call again the next time I have an electrical need.

I am very pleased by the work and professionalism of Specialized Electric. Mike Herrera did my estimate and the actual work. He was friendly and professional. Even though he was delayed for each appointment, he called me both times to let me know and to see if it were convenient for me to have him come by. I used a Angie's List coupon and got a wonderful discount on the work. Their estimate of work and time to complete was very reasonable, much more than other electricians.

Found company to get the power back to hood, stove and microwave. Able to come right away! They were able to arrive even early! I was prepared to pay at the time of servece but instead was told i would recieve a bill and did not get it until 3 weeks later.

My first and only call to Specialized Electric Company was to schedule an appt for an estimate. The appt was made at my convenience! Mike, Sr. Project Director, called when he was on his way to our house; prompt, professional, patient with my many questions. He confirmed - twice - when he would have an estimate to me and my husband, asked if we wanted it faxed, emailed, or postal delivery- it was emailed to both me and my husband. Eric Graybill, Technician, called when he was on his way to our house; prompt, professional, and very patient with my many questions. Eric followed-up to make sure we were satisfied with the work and to answer any questions or concerns we may have. Everyone, from beginning to end, was very professional and genuinely interested in my satisfaction. "Yes, Mrs. Deckerd" "No, Mrs. Deckerd" "Does that work for you Mrs. Deckerd" was how I was addressed! Specialized was great. They responded to my request for an estimate and had their estimator, Mike at our house in a day or two. Mike was super knowledgeable about code as well as what needed to be done to run the circuit to our 2nd floor electrical panel. I chose Specialized over another company based largely on how I felt during the estimate. Specialized's estimate was for a bit less than the other company but the real clincher was the superior knowledge of code and a better description on exactly what they would do.
We scheduled the project within a week and Eric and an Electrician Assistant came to the house and did the work. They were well organized and did a professional clean job. Asked lots of questions to make sure that I was satisfied with the work.
Overall, could not have been happier with the work that they did. Would HIGHLY recommend.

Mike from specialized made a visit to assess our needs. He spent plenty of time gettng to know our situation and made some tests so he knew exactly what it would take to get the job done. He spent nearly an hour without charging a cent. Then he wrote a detailed service plan and a technician fixed all our issues a few days later. Great service experience. I used Specialized again for a hot tub wiring job the next week and received quality service once again.
