Schulhoff Tree ILLEGALLY cut down two healthy 40+ year old trees and one younger one in my yard without anyone's permission because they were scammed and didn't bother to check anything before they started cutting trees down. After causing tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage by destroying these mature trees they have done absolutely nothing to try to make things better or fix the destruction they caused. My yard is now bare and even planting young trees will cost me thousands of dollars thanks to their negligence. One of their arborists came by to give recommendations on what to replace the trees with and he was extremely unprofessional and not at all helpful. He spent the entire time complaining about how much of a hassle it was that they cut down the trees on my property and never got paid for it and the only recommendation he would give was that I should spend thousands of dollars to get one of his friends to do landscaping work before they would put new trees in. I wish I could give fewer stars but I would strongly recommend against hiring a company who is this incompetent and has such poor customer service.

They're very customer oriented, good PR, personality and very knowledgeable. Their prices run in a medium priced range and they are very reasonable for the service that you get.

The reason I am giving a B is that when I called, although someone came out right away to give an estimate, it was a long time to scheduling it; no one called to schedule an appointment within the time frame the estimator told me. I had to call them and they said they scheduled the day before someone could come. I wanted to be present since this was a large tree and covered part of my neighbor's yard. Therefore I needed to schedule work around this and was surprised at their scheduling policy. However, once it was scheduled, they arrived on time, did a good job, left the roof and yard as clean as they could and was courteous.

Schulhoff took down two large dead pine trees at our home. They were professional at every step of the process.  From answering the phone on my first call, to getting a bid to me in a timely manner to scheduling Xcel energy to remove wires from the trees to them removing the trees when they said they would.   
Highly recommend them for tree removal. 

Schulhoff comes out twice every summer to spray our evergreen trees for the Ips beetle. We've been using them for 6 years. They always call ahead to confirm that we know they're coming. They are good to talk to on the phone, they offer good advice and service for occasional problems, and offer regular treatments for on-going issues.

The trimming part went very well.  Great job, tree looks terrific.  They looked and said that we don't have beatle damage to the tree, but the tree is beginning to look like another tree that was infested that sat right next to this tree and had to be cut down.  When they said the tree was fine, we didn't bother spraying, which may have helped save the tree.  Now we are looking at cutting down another 30+ year old pine tree in our yard.  I am not happy about this.  they have been here as long as our home and offer our driveway much needed shade.

They do an excellent job overall.  I am a little disappointed with my lawn, but the soil is very poor is places, and the need for aggressive weed control seems to have taken its toll on some of the grass.  This is only the second year I have used them for lawn care and weed control.  Everything else they have been doing for several years.
Schulhoff has an experienced and stable workforce, unlike the company I used previously.  They are very thorough in spraying for insects and are able to reach the tops of some old blue spruces.  They are also very careful not to spray our neighbor's bee hives, which are right along the property line.  

Excellent. They always call before coming so I can have the dogs inside. If it is too wet or windy, they call to reschedule. Ihave also had the trimmy trees for years. They always do a great job, and their prices are very fair. Professional with very good equipment and trucks. I wouldn't use anyone else.

I have 13 blue spruce, an ash and a crab apple tree.  They have been spraying my trees for years and do a good job
for a reasonable price.  I pay them for the season and save 10%.
They call the day before they come (so I can cover my veggies, bird feeder, etc. and have the windows closed) and
unless it rains they come on the day they have scheduled.   I also have them aerate my lawn. 
    If there is a problem they are very responsive to it.  I have also had them trim my trees in the past and they do a good
job on this.

From the estimate to the end of the service it was professional, prompt and well done

The trees are located in a fenced backyard, so it was not possible for Schulhoff to use any large equipment. That meant all work had to be done by climbing the trees. I was concerned about the huge limb that would have to be removed, but they had no problems. Everything went very smoothly. A team of five arrived on time and began rigging for the tree climb. They were extremely pleasant, courteous and helpful in answering my questions. Public Service arrived on time to disconnect the power lines for safety purposes. Schulhoff had made these arrangements. The electricity was out for approx. 3 hours. The team was very thorough in removing the dead branches and pruning the trees. They did a super clean job of trimming the trees. When asked, they were happy to cut some additional branches that I thought needed to be removed. The yard was blanketed with all of the debris, but the team thoroughly cleaned the yard, so much so, that it looked as if they had never been there. Even the huge chunks of the extra large limb were chopped into a smaller sizes and sent through the mulcher. The entire job took about 6 hours to complete. There was some very minor damage done to the property--glass from a lantern in the backyard was broken, and a slat on the fence was cracked. Both are being replaced by Schulhoff. There was no haggling over this. The team leader will be returning to the house to take care of the repairs. I was so impressed with all of their hard work. I have used Schulhoff for other tree trimming and for spraying of trees for years, but this is the largest job they have ever done for me. They've never let me down.

We called to tell them we no longer wanted their services and they didn't even try to keep us as clients.  We have been clients for several years.  Very poor customer service.

It was difficult to get on Schuloff Tree and Lawn Care list. Once we got things cleared out of the way and ready to do it, they had a waiting list of over a month. I would use them in the future.

Their work is fine and their prices are comparable to others, but I generally have to call them two or three times to get anything scheduled.  They put me on the books for tree triming this winter and never came...now that everything is blooming so early, it is too late.  The scheduling problems I have are becoming enough of a pain that I will switch to another company next season (I prepaid for my spraying this year, so I'm stuck with calling them to make sure everything gets done at the correct time)

They do what they are suppose to do and they do a good job. They spray the right trees.

A Schulhoff arborist inspected the tree on 10/05/11 and provided an estimate of $180.00 for a Class I Complete Prune.

I accepted the estimate and the arborist told me that it would be be early November before the work could be done.

On 10/10 Schulhoff called and said, if it was convenient for us, they could have a crew prune the tree on 10/13.  They would arrive between 2:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M.

The two man crew arrived shortly after 2:00 P.M. as scheduled.  They checked the work area, set up their safety equipment and proceeded to prune the tree.  The actual pruning work between  one and half and two hours with continuous clean up of cut branches and limbs.   The final clean up took about thirty minutes.  The crew even cleaned up the fallen leaves in the front yard.

The tree looks excellent.

They come out pretty frequently.  They charge $36 and there are at least 4 treatments and if each is $36, it’s $140 a year.  They are punctual.  The people who come out are very friendly.  They are very responsive if I have a question or concern.  They seem to be pretty knowledgeable.  Price is always a problem because they always take one’s payment.  I would continue to use them in the future.

They seemed to have the most knowledgeable arborist. I chose them based on the initial consultation. They know what they're doing, which is the main thing. There are a lot of hacks out there that don't know tree service work.

Good work but poor responsiveness and punctuality. The initially scheduled dates for the work were compromised by weather but the I had to call the company repeatedly to ascertain the next dates for the work, which changed several times. Even after new dates were set the crews did not show at the expected times and I had to call again to find out the new scheduled work times. Communication did not seem to be adequate between the field crews and the office.

First visit for estimate with Chris Becker was very good. He is knowledgeable and has a degree in Forestry in addition to Arborist certification. I compared what he told me to another company and he definitely was more informed. There was nearly a month between when I agreed to the services and when the pruning crew came out. That's my only complaint. The onsite crew was very good and the lead guy was very knowledgeable as well. They have all the equipment needed to do a proper job (as opposed to some random guy putting a ladder up in your tree and hacking limbs off). You pay more for properly educated and experienced arborists - to me it is worth it.

They are local, they will call the day before they come, and they are very good about really getting the spray on the trees. I have some really tall spruce trees and their sprayer gets all the way to the top. They do a better job at spraying than another company that I?ve used and they are a little cheaper too. They give an estimate for every year and I have the option of receiving a 10% discount if I pay before they spray.

I've called Schulhoff three times. The first time they performed tree trimming work for me. They were extremely professional and clean and the did a beautiful job trimming my trees. The second time was just after moving to a new home, I had an arborist come to my house and give me some information about my trees and advice on removing scrubs and plants that I didn't like. He recommended that I do some of the easier work myself, which is refreshing that they don't try to oversell. He gave me some great recommendations on how to trim some of the overgrown vegetation in my yard back. About a year later, I decided to have two alley elm trees removed and have the stumps ground. The work was split into two separate days, and both crews were courteous and punctual. They did the work well, explained problems they encountered and still met the estimated price. I would definitely call Schulhoff again.
