Owner Assist Remodeling

My wife and I met with Bill (owner) and really liked what he had to say and the concept he presented. This was the extend of what we liked. Bill brought on Dave to be the Project Manager. Bill had promised that he could complete our project by Christmas as we had a baby on the way and wanted to finish before it came. He understood and said no problem. A month and a half into the job Dave (project manager) hired a sub without sending us pricing or getting our written consent. It turned out that this sub charged by the day. When my wife and I went by the site at 2pm in the afternoon this sub was not on site. That is when my wife pulled up the cameras and saw that he and his crew only put in a 6 hour day yet were going to charge for 8 hours for 4 guys. The crew still had a couple hours of work and were going to come back the next and would charge another 8 hours for the day. This is also when we saw the sub and crew shopping our garden multiple time through the day and then they grabbed more at the end of the day presumably to take home. They did not ask, nor had permission. When this was brought to Dave’s attention he stated that “Roger” the guy he hired is his buddy, they go to church together and he sings in the choir therefore that could not be true. I said we have it on camera and sent him the video. He again defended his friend and fellow church-goer. The next day he quit. This left our project in dire straits and Bill was unable to honor his word and complete our project on time. Since Bill and Dave left the project I have heard from two separate subs that Dave asked for kickbacks from the subs he helps sign up. I hired Owner Assist Remodeling because I am a Construction Professional that was unable to manage our project due to having two major surgeries scheduled during our construction schedule. This has been a stressful and a truly horrible experience with people who say they are professional. Stay away from this company!
