Project was awful. Sent email below, but of course did not hear back. Quality of work was poor. Nothing in the garage is level, I believe this was directly caused by leaving the lumber outside in the elements for months. Job site condition. This was a mess from as soon as they started framing. Trash was left everywhere. I am still finding nails in the dirt and picking up trash from the workers. They did not mark where the sprinkler heads were so now I have to try and find them under lots of dirt. The timbers that were used between grass and rock were just thrown around. There seems to have been little concern over anything outside the building area. Poor communication: This was ongoing throughout the whole process. Crappy looking foundation is now something I have to live with forever. You never told me about this. The skirt in front of the garage is a sidewalk, we assumed this would be like a driveway since it is in front of the garage. You took over a week at times to get back to me. Wrong materials used and then redone. Roof shingles were wrong and you know what that mess caused. Door was wrong, outside light was wrong, lights in garage were not communicated to electrician, costing me more money.

They're very good. They're reliable, easy to work with and has reasonable price.

They did a fantastic job. I would recommend them to anyone. They were also the best priced of all the companies that we contacted. They were priced about 24% lower than their competitors. The work was done quickly and professionally. I would contact them again if I needed any additional work done.

We recently decided to finish off part of our basement. After a bit of searching, we settled on a contractor recommended by our neighbor. We were a bit skittish going into this because we have heard many stories of problems with contractors. We knew what we wanted but I am a bit too old to tackle the work myself. After meeting with Graham Koeppen we felt pretty good about our choice. We were not in a big rush so that took some pressure off things. Graham brought in subcontractors that he has worked with for a long time. He dealt with the code inspectors, buying the materials, scheduling, etc like a pro that he is. At the end we were more than happy. He and his men did an outstanding job, they communicated well, and they were courteous and very easy to deal with. We felt like they were totally trustworthty – we had no qualms leaving the house with them working there. In the end we ended up with a new bedroom, library, workout room, bathroom, and gameroom. I can heartily endorse Graham (GJKoeppen Construction) because they did a fantastic job, as per our agreement. What more can you ask for.

We had water damage to our home from a pipe break in the master bathroom tub. Water damaged all three levels of our home.  Grahm, the owner, came in and gave us an estimate for all the work and we though it was a fair estimate.  We liked the idea of Grahm running the show for all the different things we would be needing done.  We are overall statified with the end product but getting there was a little tough.  Grahm is not the best communicator and was never on the job site unless we address some issues with him.  Every step of the process was bumpy and had to be fixed. the construction company did try to remedy all our issues but with alot of frustration on our part with communcation issues.  His sub contractors were either late or did not show up at all on the scheduled days.

Graham's crew was always very punctual and professional. They worked full days and got the work done efficiently. They were open to our suggestions. If anything went beyond the original scope, Graham would provide suggestions and give a cost estimate. The final cost was right on target with the few additional items we added.
Graham was also very willing to work with us on price and design. Other companies were not willing to let us complete any of the work ourselves, while Graham had no issue with that. Also, other companies told us that the bathroom could not be located where we wanted it. Moving the rough-ins was no problem for Graham's team.
I was especially impressed because we had a few minor issues come up after the contract was closed. We contacted Graham and he worked with us on the two issues until they were both resolved.
The only negative thing I can say is that Graham is sometimes a bit hard to get a hold of. However, his office manager is always very responsive and was always able to get things scheduled if we couldn't get a hold of Graham directly.

Graham and his crew did an amazing job with our basement remodel and exceeded our expectations in almost every category.  His crew worked full days every day and whenever there was any issue that affected the budget Graham was always extremely clear about what our options were.  We have a few other contractors working at the same time and Graham and his crew stayed closer to their original estimate than anyone else we worked with.

Looks great! There are a few tiny kinks to be worked out still but I have full confidence that it will get done.

Slow to getting started,but once the job was on its way they stuck with it until the end. Joel was very good at explaining the job as it went along and great at leaving options to better the project. Joel was very good at detail and has a real eye for the work that he completed. The bathroom in our eyes has become a true piece of art compared to what we had before. The plumbing (moving tolit & shower) turned out to be no problem and added a more open feeling to the room. All the installation of the sink/vanity,mirror, tolit, showler rack, shampoo/soap caddy ect. were perfect. The new glass shower wall is awesome and added a real modern look. The best part of the whole project was the tile work. Both Graham & Joel were very helpfull explaining my options throughout the project and how to make better use of the space we had. A very honest company to work with.

The framing was done quickly and efficiently. Then we had a few weeks of nothing happening. We weren't sure why we were waiting for the drywall to get done, but then we communicated with Graham, and it had to do with him waiting to get a permit for our basement remodel. Once the drywall was underway (a few weeks later), everything else happened in an efficient manner. Graham and Joel are both very quick to respond to phone calls. Once the project was fully underway, we could expect the workers to arrive sometime between 8-10am most mornings. Everyone who came through our house (Graham, Joel, and all of their subcontractors) were friendly, competent, and trustworthy. We felt comfortable having them in our house with my husband, myself, and our baby. Graham and Joel listened to all of my requests, and did their best to please me. We requested a couple of changes toward the end of the project, and they rolled with it. Overall, Graham and Joel's work is detail-oriented and beautiful. I have been very impressed with the quality of their work throughout this process, and I am thrilled with the final product! GJ Koeppen Construction has turned our dusty basement into a gorgeous professional space for me to use for my business. I highly recommend their basement finishing services.

They were very responsive. Graham did a great job coming up with a good layout for our basement that fit our many needs into the space we had in a design we really love. Graham worked with us to come up with a really cool layout for the bedrooms and shelving and benches in the play space. The project took approximately the time estimated and was finished by the agreed deadline. We like the work they did, especially the bathroom (the tile, vanity and shower really look great) and the kids play space. Joel was also very good to help me think through the layout of the speakers in the media room and find suggestions for me (Joel used to work doing media room installs and is a great resource). Graham and Joel were always very professional if we had questions or concerns and sought to address them in a manner I thought was fair. There are only a couple things that keep me from giving As straight across. First, I made it clear early on that I wanted the creaky floors fixed. We have wooden subfloors in the basements in our subdivision. Long story short, they still creak badly in a lot of spots and it drives me nuts. When we hired him he did not specify that there would be a cost add on to fix them. Later in the job he said he would do what he could from above floor, but if he had to go below there would be additional cost. Since we already were a bit above what we planned to spend, we could not afford additional cost to fix it Second, we felt like we had to be on top of the work of the subcontractors more than was necessary. We felt like Graham could have been better at making sure everything was done correctly instead of us having to catch things. For example, our humidifier on our HVAC system was not hooked back up to water, which I only discovered after the fact and our fence was left partially disassembled. In all fairness, Graham has been responsive at coming back to fix things that needed to be done even though we have already paid him in full, which is a huge plus in my book.

It turned out really well. We were very pleased, and they did a great job. They were very professional and easy to work with, and we would absolutely use them again.

We interviewed 4 contractors and chose GJ Koeppen because Graham was excited about our remodeling plans. He was able to make our master bath look the way we envisioned by being creative on how the sinks and vanities were placed. His brother did all the tile work in both bathrooms, and it turned out beautifully. Graham also obtained building permits for the work - interestingly, 2 of the 4 companies tried to "save us money" by not doing that. Graham Koeppen worked closely with us during the project, even though he's in Boulder and we're in New York City. He emailed pictures of the project almost every week to let us know how everything was coming along. His responsiveness to our questions, and his willingness to reach out for more input was great.
