About us

Northern Lights Exteriors is a full-service exterior remodeling contractor offering roofing, siding, replacement windows, gutters, house painting, and much more to home and business owners across Colorado. Simply put - we believe It's What's On the Outside That Counts! The main differentiators we have over our competitors is our CORE VALUES of Communication and Transparency, our dedication to meticulous workmanship, and our ability to be the only contractor you need to hire for anything on the outside of your box! We know that one of the biggest pain points for clients during a construction project is knowing where you are in the build process. Because of this, Northern Lights Exteriors designed and created proprietary software that allows you to access project information on-demand via a customized portal for your job. We guarantee you won't feel "out of the loop" - because you will always have a place to visually see the schedule, notes, delivery status', payments owed, and contract details. We invest in our teams and crews and provide annual education courses to stay up to date on the best practices for warranty install requirements and other new product offerings. As a company we offer a wide range of options that will fit the needs of most design or budget ideas. From roofing products that will range between "keep you dry" to Storm and Impact Resistant products, as well as James Hardie Siding to vinyl - we will be able to find what's best for our clients without "pushing" you one-way or another. By having one contractor service all your property needs, it allows you to get a better deal and work more efficiently and handle all the details of your project from ONE SOURCE.

They are terrible at scheduling and management. There workers are subcontractors which makes matters worse. Follow up to deal with warranty related issues was not acceptable.

Contractor did a great job on my roof.  They helped me pick out a shingle that was impact resistant and helped me receive savings from my insurance company.  Everything went very smooth and I've already recommended them to several neighbors.

Roofers spent three days replacing the roof working well into dark on a couple of days.  Supervisor out of town for duration of job.  Hoisting equipment broke while placing roofing shingles on the roof creating a dent/hole in the roof.  Roofers roofed over the top of the dent/hole instead of fixing the problem, leaving a very apparent indentation in the roof.  Roofers also tore up the siding almost everywhere it met the roof.  When supervisor came back into town I pointed out the dent/hole and all the damaged siding.  A man was sent out to fix the dent/hole to our satisfaction.  A man was also sent out to repair the damaged siding but only fixed some of it before giving up and claiming the damage was preexisting. Would definitely not use them again and could not recommend them.  This has been my first experience using a highly rated Andie's List vendor where I have been disappointed.

I feel like the work was much more about a $99 estimate for a new roof by NLE. I honestly have no problems with NLE as a company, and I'm sure they do fantastic work based on other reviews. NLE was responsive, and did in fact provide a pretty nice estimate to replace our roof. However, I didn't learn as much as I would have liked about our roof condition, why exactly we should replace it, and I didn't feel like much of a "Tune-Up" was performed. I delayed writing this review because I really don't want anybody to think poorly of NLE in whole. I think I just had an isolated poor experience.

The bad: The window installer arrived on a day without an appointment, unannounced. he was rude, noisy, and very disrespectful. His installation job was subpar also. Poor caulking, the window had numerous scratches on it, and a screen was torn, but he failed to tell us about any of these problems. He just left without even saying goodbye.

The siding on one side of the house was supposed to be completely replaced and the project manager claimed that it was. When I went to inspect the house it was very obvious that there were two pieces of siding on the top row that had not been replaced and the color differential was distinct and easily viewed and they left dirty marks on the original siding.

The Good: The project manager was apologetic and they make good on their claims. The office manager, Cindy, was easy to communicate with. The owner eventually got involved since the project seem to have nonstop issues. I think this would be a good company to work/deal with under normal circumstances. it became obvious that they had so many hail damage claims that they were rushing from job to job and not quite following up on their work. The project manager was obviously way overworked, and tried hard to compensate. they were also good communicators and did not try to give too many excuses when confronted with their sloppy/deficient work. They eventually made good on their promises.

"We can not argue that we had some issues with the window installer and he was removed from this job and reprimanded. This was somewhat of a difficult case as we were working with a tenant who worked nights and slept days, so scheduling and communication was rather difficult. We always strive for our best and unfortunately, we fell short on [Member Name Removed]'s job. We always stand behind our word and although their were some bumps in the project, we never gave up, left or pushed back. We wanted to make sure that [Member Name Removed] was satisfied with the final product."

The project went well overall.  I worked with Mack from Northern Lights.  Mack made the project as easy for me as possible.  He kept me updated on when to expect contractors and what to expect.  He was always responsive to my calls or inquiries.  I would definitely work with Mack again.

"Thanks [removed member name], We appreciate your business and the kind words about our company. NLE strives hard to clearly communicate and ensure that homeowners are happy. Restoration work is difficult due to so many moving parts with the insuranace company all of the different trades to ensure that all of the details of a project are understood by the homeowner. I appreciate you letting us know that Mack did a great job with all of this work. Thanks again and if there is anything we may do for you or your friends and family let us know how we may be of assistance.- Thanks, James Hooven/Owner"

The first impression was that they had a professional appearance and demeanor, however they delayed the work for perhaps a months or six weeks with excuses. They way overcharged me for the time that actually took to do the work. The work was done very well. The quality of the subcontractor that came to do the work very high and he was fast for me. However I'm very frustrated with that company, with their putting me off for such a long time and the high price.

Wes McNutt was incredibly helpful throughout the entire project. He lined up all of the subcontractors and monitored each phase of the project. Wes was always prompt and professional, attentive to our interests and needs, and incredibly knowledgable about each aspect of the work to be done and how best to work with our insurance company.
The project couldn't have turned out better.  The roof is a better roof than the original (which was only seven years old),and  all of the other aspects of the project were completed effectively and efficiently, with a minimum disruption to our daily lives.
I cannot say enough good things about Wes and Northern Lights Exteriors!

This was a relatively small job, the roof had several wind damaged shingles.  I called them up to get an estimate, they came out the same day. Not only did we get a reasonable estimate for repair, but at the same time they put on a temporary patch at no charge. The patch saved us some grief, as it rained that evening.

We had a small communication snafu. We thought that the installer was to be expected the following Wednesday, but when no one showed up, a call to the office showed that the install was scheduled for the following day, Thursday.

Overall, I would have no hesitation to use them again. They did great work on a small job. The price was quite reasonable. Cleanup was good, no debris left.

Here is what I would like to say about Northern Lights Exteriors and their staff.  They are a local company that puts people before the job.  For me that means everything! They all showed concern for my family and for my homes! Because of these actions I referred Northern Lights Exteriors to eight of my neighbors;  all of which have received the same excellent service! I would highly recommend Northern Lights to anyone needing a solid, honest contractor. When James came to the house, he was very helpful in explaining the steps we would need to take with our insurance company to get our claim moving. Out of the three contractors that came to our house James was the only one that showed concern for my families well being. He asked if the roof was leaking, he asked if we had any broken windows… In addition, he said he would help cover the windows and tarp the roof at no cost. I strongly recommend Northern Lights Exteriors. We need more people like James in this line of work. If you would like to talk with me about my experience please call me @ 303 287 2187. Elvis Boling

"Member, Thank you for your kind words, and response on Angie's List. I appreciate the opportunity to work for you. Also Thank you for all of the referral business that you sent me last year. I was glad to meet/exceed yours and their expectations during the insurance restoration work. I look forward to helping you and servicing any other of your friends and family for a lifetime. Thanks, James Hooven"
