Steve is wonderful! He is competent, friendly, worked fast and did more than what we had listed in the proposal. He was willing to work around our schedules so that we were not inconvenienced by an interruption in sewer service. He scheduled utility locates prior to the work. He also beat the price of the other two bids we requested. We asked Steve to bid on replacing the pipe from the foundation to the septic tank as we were told by our plumber that the pipe was probably broken and was the cause of our stoppage problems. In an attempt to alleviate our stoppage problem, we broke the existing diverter which controlled leech fields trying to turn it in the freezing cold. So we knew that had to be replaced. Steve showed us that our major problem was a 30 year old Cottonwood tree growing directly over the pipe that ran from the septic tank to the diverter. We had the tree cut last summer and there was still a 3 foot stump. He removed it with the backhoe. The root ball was over 8 feet in diameter. The trench was deep and we had asked him to mark any sprinkler lines that he encountered. Steve capped and labeled at least 6 lines that surfaced. He paused in his work so that the sprinklers could be rejoined by a worker we had brought in. Steve even lent him a heat gun to make the job go easier. We had him come back to replace the line between the house and the septic tank. There was a Crabapple tree directly over that pipe. He told us if we could cut the major branches off he would take the tree out with his backhoe. We discovered that the tree had its roots directly in the clay pipe. Again we asked him to label the sprinkler lines as he encountered them. Our person that fixed the other sprinklers was not available so Steve volunteered to reconnect the lines himself. I bought the parts needed and he took time out of his day to flag broken sprinkler heads and connect the pipes. He even made sure that our cat was not too curious as he backfilled the trench. I would recommend Steve for any excavating work you may need.
