Vern's Custom Countertops & Flooring

the measuring and installation and finished product are great. The countertops look amazing. However, the communication with Samantha over scheduling was a fiasco. She told me I only needed a month's notice between measuring and installation. I could easily have ordered the countertops 2-3 months earlier, but deferred to her saying I only needed a month ahead of time. I was having the old countertop and sink removed by my handyman who recommended Vern's and has worked with them many times. Kirk (owner) came and measured and said to set up the installation with Samantha. When I called her, she said because of the special edge I ordered (nothing was said when I picked it out) they might not get it on time. I asked if I should pick something else, she said it would be ready in 2-3 weeks and "pencilled in" my installation date. When I called to confirm the date after having the old countertop removed, she said it was impossible to do the installation on that date. I would have expected a call to tell me that date wouldn't work. I sat for two weeks with no countertop, sink, dishwasher, and drain. I took me calling, emailing several times, to even get a ballpark of when it could be installed. I tried to contact Kirk the owner about this issue, but there is no contact information available for him. When I told Samantha I wanted to talk to him, she said to tell her why and she would give him a message. Later she said she had discussed it with him and decided there was no reason I should be given a discount. I hadn't requested one and wasn't questioning the billing. I wonder if Kirk ever heard about this and think it unusual that there is no way to contact the owner directly.

While it was difficult to get in their schedule because they are so busy, when a date was set, they showed up on time and completed in one day. The job wasn't huge but they gave it professional attention and we are quite satisfied with the outcome.

I didn't want the existing older counter top ripped out and Rick was able to work miracles to be able to use a newer smaller sink.  Heather was easy to work with on choosing laminate & was able to lend large samples to view at home.  Kurt came out & took the measurements & explain the process.  Rick did a wonderful job engineering the process and was meticulous even with clean up.  A true craftsman.  I am extremely pleased with all and highly recommend Vern's.  

Operating hours are an issue -- not open on weekends or Fridays, nor could I find their hours on their website.  About the only such provider in town -- if a more flexible competitor appears, their operating hours will be a real problem.

Even though they measured the space where the countertops were to go, I had to spend an hour rasping down the first one so it would fit.  The second one fit OK.

It seems difficult to get an estimate of exactly when work will be done, although they did deliver in the approximate time window they had said.

The actual countertops are high quality and look nice.

We chose Verns because of great reviews. They worked with their distributor so we could take a look at some larger pieces of countertops before choosing.  There was some delay with getting scheduled for the install as they had some staffing issues but when they came out the job was done very quickly and professionally.  They also offered tips on keeping the counters looking good and left the supplies that would be needed.  They also kept our old counters in good condition when they were removed since we had a use for them.  All in all a very good experience and I would not hesitate to recommend.

JUST AS PLANNED  and on time. It was pricey bu8t worth the getting it right and done fast!

Very personable everything was upfront for the repairs and performed work on time. Liked everything about the custom countertops. Vern's custom countertop & flooring has great quality and craftsmanship. 

There was a delay getting the requested material but that was the supplier's fault, not Vern's  The day of installation was a bit scary, watching the old counter being broken up to be carted off.  They were very careful about disconnecting everything under the sink.  They cleaned up every step of the way.  It took six guys to bring the new countertop up the stairs and into the kitchen.  (this top has a molded in double sink so it is all one unit...very heavy).  Shoehorning this in is their strong suit, no gaps and no overlap.  Adding the back splash to line up with the existing tile finished the hard part.  The table top was a snap.  They cleaned and polished up everything.  Now for the down side...  They do not do plumbing.   You will have to hire your own plumber to hook the sink up after.  Also one other minor thing... shopping for fixtures for the sink can take as long as selecting the counter top.  As for the people at Vern's coustom counter.  They were great.  Very helpful and patient.  I will use them again for other projects.

They were very easy to deal with, came out to take a look quickly, were able to schedule the work within a few days, were always on time, very courteous and professional.  The old laminate surface in both the kitchen and bathroom was peeling up, Kurt looked at it and determined that the wood underneath was fine so we just needed to re-laminate.  Someone had cut a hole in the countertop and put a cutting board in, why anyone thought THAT was a good idea I'll never know.  They were able to patch the hole for me.  Overall a very positive experience and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

We talked with them and got beginning sample of countertops while they measured the counters for an estimate.  We went to their shop to view a bigger selection of samples.  Once we made a decision we put a deposit down and measurements were taken again to ensure accuracy.  The countertops were delivered and installed in around 3 hours. They left a  sample of countertop for possible future use. I am extremely happy with the end product.

Kirk initially came to our house to take measurements and to discuss what we wanted. Later in their showroom, Kirk and Kenda were very helpful in selecting materials and showing us our choices. They were happy to let us bring large sample pieces home to see how they looked.

The workers doing the tear-out and install were pleasant and professional. They took care with our house, and cleaned up when they finished.

Following installation, Kirk returned to the house to fix a minor problem with the installation.

Every interaction with the company was positive. Vern's was great to work with. I'd recommend them to a friend.

Excellent service, professional, courteous.  They gave us an estimate that was right on, even with our measurements.  When they came out to get actual measurements, they listened to what we wanted, explained how the product would be fabricated, were carefu about height restrictions considering the new dishwasher to be installed at a later date. They were very fast in their fabrication and their installation crew knew exactly what they were doing.

From start to finish, everyone I dealt with was excellent. The finished product turned out great and they were professional and very nice to me and everyone at home with me (2 young kids and a dog). This is the 2nd time I've used them for countertops and this time, I didn't even shop around - I knew I wanted to go with Vern's.
