When the owner looked at our 2 clocks, his first comments were how horribly they had been repaired in the past. He then told us all of his qualifications. The one clock was junk, he said, and we needed to simply throw it away. It would not be worth the money to rebuild it. The second clock he felt was more valuable and would cost $600 or so to fix. We disliked his attitude and communication style immediately. We left the clock to be repaired , but went back later and took it home. We would not do business with him.
Description of Work: We went to get estimates for the repair of antique clocks. The owner looked them over and gave us his advice.

Service provided as requested. Fixed a grandfather clock to get it in working order. Not easy to communicate , but did what he was hired to do.
Description of Work: Set up grandfather clock after it was moved from out of state. Evaluated working mechanisms. Balanced and leveled clock at its new location. Rehung the weights and pendulum movements.

I found my experience to be very distasteful. I brought in a clock that while it did not have a great monetary value, it had a great deal of sentimental value to my mother. It had stopped working and I mentioned that I wasn't sure if my mother, who is in the early stages of dimentia, had perhaps overwound it. After listening to a lengthy lecture on how clocks work and that it was not possible to overwind one, I was told the only option was to replace the mechanism. I said I wasn't sure I wanted to spend the money at this time. His response to that was "I certainly wouldn't spend money, not on this clock." As if that wasn't insulting enough, he then said because my mother has dimentia, it didn't matter anyway. I could not believe my ears. From his perspective, I'm sure he thinks he was just being honest, but I am still stunned at how rude and insensitive he was. I will look at that clock broken on the mantle the rest of my life before I take it back to him
Description of Work: I visited the store to see about fixing a mantle clock.

I'll continue to use him. I've known him for 16 years. He sells antiques and he sells and repairs antique clocks. He is a clockmaker. He simply knows the equipment. He is extremely knowledgeable about what he does. He is prompt and his prices are fair. I might even consider them too low. He is professional about what he does.
Description of Work: I use Robin Nance Antiques & Clocks to service and maintain our grandfather's clock once a year and he tells me when stuff needs to be done to it.
