"This situation has troubled us ever since this situation occurred. This incident occurred right as the enormous flooding in northern Colorado happened in the summer of 2013. The owner had just moved into his home, and we were referred to him by his realtor, whom we have done business with for decades. Upon initial consult, we placed fans both above and beneath the pads, as this owner stated he didn't have homeowners insurance in place yet, nor wanted to attempt to turn it in, as well as being short on cash at hand due to the move. As an attempt to save him money, and against our typical procedure we spent extra time drying out his basement, and didn't charge extra for the days it took longer to dry, as a nod towards good favor for our realtor friends referral. We also didn't charge for extra days of dehumidifier use. Note: we weren't able to determine exactly where the water had come from, as the floods had caused both overflow damage, and also the rare ground water level being raised and flooding in our geographic area. On the date that we replaced carpet, we checked all areas with our moisture meters, and found it all to be dry. Not a little dry... VERY dry. That being checked, we laid the carpet down, and completed our work. After our work was done, it had rained again, and this new water was not from our negligence, but from the previously undetermined source of water leakage, which we now assume was ground water seepage through foundation cracks. We have been in business for over 40 years, and have not remained in business for so long with work such as what this gentleman claims. We did reach out to him, and never received a response. Also note, after the client became upset at our bill, which had not been discussed, we accepted an extremely low amount of money for work done. Our business actually lost money doing this job, but we felt it was more honorable to walk away from this absolutely frustrating situation. Sadly, nothing we did was able to please this gentleman. Our company is family owned, and we value integrity and honesty. It pains us that such a report even exists, as we would do whatever we could to rectify any client complaint, however rare it may be. You can ask any of our thousands of clients over the past four decades."
inside his apartment. Bear mace is 2000 times stronger than mace intended
for humans. He was hospitalized and fortunately has recovered his health,
but I was left with a huge mess on my hands. His apartment lease was ending
in only a few days and we were dealing with an especially difficult
landlord. I contacted an attorney to see if we were responsible for the
apartment even though the bear spray was the result of an attack. His
advice was to have it cleaned professionally BEFORE the lease ends.
I live in Wisconsin so I had to search for a cleaning company via the
internet and lots of phone calls. I contacted several and a couple of them
assured me they could do the job and have it completed by the lease end
date, however none of them were even following up with me. Fortunately I
called Nico and they got started that same day. They were very professional
every step of the way and knew exactly what had to be done to completely
eliminate the bear spray and to address any other issues the the landlord
might contest.
The landlord was attempting to charge us for repainting the walls and
replacing the carpet but Nico deep cleaned both so well that it left
virtually no ground for the landlord to stand on. They professionally
documented everything including before and after pictures. Without Nico we
would be at the mercy of a greedy landlord who continues to try and find
ways to profit from our misfortune.
I highly recommend Nico's services especially where you have a challenging
job that has to be done quickly, on budget and in a manner that is well
documented. I'd give them a 10 out of 10.
"[removed member name], it was an honor to serve you. Despite the time frame, and the difficulty even we experienced with landlords we are absolutely thrilled to hear that the results impressed you as well. I, personally attended this clean up, and was proud of my team in mitigating this apartment so well that it went from being intolerable without full protective gear to not being able to tell there had been mace at all present. Thank you for your kind words. -James Cox, Owner"
