Environmental Radon Control

Rob's Radon was hired by the sellers of our house prior to the closing, after radon levels were tested too high. To the untrained eye, the installation looked great, and Rob was very nice and seemed genuinely interested in helping us. However, we've since had the system assessed by another company--following the Boulder flooding--and the system was improperly installed and puts in greater risk of cancer and house fire. The installed system is flawed: 1) The piping and plastic in the crawlspace were installed in the wrong order, with the piping on top of the plastic sheeting, 2) The plastic sheeting was never sealed to the foundation walls to allow proper airflow, 3) The furnace was not barricaded to prevent updraft and house fires, 4) There is no fire cap around the exit pipe, again leaving us vulnerable to bigger house fires, and 5) The fan was improperly secured to the wall, leading to heavier wear over time and a loud vibrating noise in our bedroom. Again, Rob seems like a nice person, but this installation was completely unprofessional, and it put us at serious risk. We are also facing additional costs to have the system redone properly, and we hope that no long term damage has been done to our health in the year since the system was installed. I have recently tried the phone number for this business, and it seems to be disconnected. Hopefully, Rob is no longer installing faulty radon systems and putting people at risk.
