There was an initial visit by the company’s owners, and some rough measurements were taken. We discussed what we wanted, how long it would take, and the price-range we could expect. We talked, asked questions, received photos over the next few weeks; while we compared, and decided. The second visit we signed a contract, the windows were ordered to our specifications, manufactured and shipped within 3 or 4 weeks. And then, we scheduled the installation. When the installation day arrived, the windows and other materials were delivered the prior evening; and totally installed the next day. Clean-up was completed after dark on that same day. The installation team consisted of four men, including the company owner and salesman. All were polite, professional, and good-humored. It was a very good experience, and we are enjoying our balcony more than ever. The long winter was very comfortable in our condominium, with the balcony becoming our favorite room to be in.
Description of Work: Replaced 30 year old steel-frame, single-pane, fixed/sliding, windows enclosing a balcony. Total window dimensions were approximately 24 x 5 feet. These were replaced with energy-efficient, glare-reducing, sound-reducing, and insulating, vinyl-frame, double-pane, fixed/casement, windows. The wall beneath the windows was also insulated and re-surfaced. The balcony is on an upper floor, on the west side of a high-rise condominium, in a high-wind area. Windows exceed the requirement for withstanding 100+ mile-per-hour winds. Windows have a life-time warranty against breakage, or other damage/failure, by the manufacturer - Simonton Windows. And they qualified for the current (2009-2010) 15% IRS tax-credit (reflected in the amount we spent, above).
