Soon after I contacted Aspen Construction Jeff Paben arrived to evaluate the situation. Before committing to a formal estimate Jeff wanted a structural engineer to look at the work area and provide guidance for correcting a bad situation. After Jeff showed me photos of failing support beams under the house and explained why they failed, I was happy to engage an engineer. After Jeff, the engineer, and I met, an estimate was written. The work included: pour four new 24and quot;x24and quot; concrete pads; install shoring under beams as needed; fabricate and install four new steel columns, straighten and brace twisted I-beam in crawlspace, raise downspout elbows and install extensions (4), pour four new 16and quot;x16and quot; concreate pads. Aspen was able to work around my schedule. The work went smoothly. The area was left clean each day. All final construction rubbish was removed. All in all it was a good experience.

They are always friendly, on time and reasonably priced. They did a great job.

Aspen gave me a general estimate over the phone because we weren't occupying the home at the time but needed to get the estimate for home purchase negotiating purposes. They had the lowest bid of all the companies from which we got estimates, but also good reviews here and photos of their work so we chose them. They came out to the house later and confirmed their estimate after an on-sight inspection. Their installer was professional, experienced, and knowledgeable. It was an all day job. The installer took the appearance of the system into consideration and everything was done very neatly and solidly. In the end, I think we got a very well installed system for the lowest price.

Doug came and got all repair work done with a smile. Vicky came and painted with great accuracy and speed. Jeff fixed broken cabinets.

Jeff Promptly inspected the basement and reviewed radon sample lab results. Doug came same day and installed the mitigation system.

Great. Aspen was professional, knowledgeable, showed up on time, finished on time, and did a fantastic job. They cleaned up the place nicely when the job was done. You can't go wrong with having Aspen do the work. Aspen may not give you the lowest bid, but I would rate their price to be excellent because of the service and quality that they provide. My house is 60 years old and the roof was sagging. The cables were recommended by a structural engineer. Aspen had to special order the cables. They sent a project manager out two days before the scheduled job to make sure that the logistics were all worked out. They finished on time as promised. The second job was more standard. Again they were prompt and did a great job.

This is still an ongoing project with Aspen Construction. It is a family ran business and they do good work.

Moved into new construction in June. Tested for radon in August and it was high (5.6 pCI/L). Called around and talked to some people about contractors. Good words about Aspen Construction, so we went ahead and called them. A little pricey, but you are getting what you pay for. These guys are on the ball. A guy came over and did an estimate at my convenience. I stood there talking and pointing and various things in our basement, and he was flexible on where we could run piping and stuff like that for the project. Their office gal emailed me an estimate/contract. I had some questions about it that she responded to within 2-4 hours each, and finally had a guy call me when she couldn't answer one question. Scheduled installation appointment. They set my expectations that the project would take all day, and it did. The installation guy was nice and clean, but still laid out a cloth across my living room floor to get from the garage to the basement without tracking any dust or dirt in. THESE GUYS CLEAN UP AFTER THEMSELVES. It's even in the contract. The installer had a Shop Vac he took downstairs and cleaned up all the concrete dust (not much floating around in the air) and some other junk he had to clean up after sealing my sump pit. Very professional workmanship and very nice and clean mounts where he mounted the pipe to the wall and studs. Very clean and professional coming out the top of the garage roof and shingles. The installer guy explained the 5-year warrantee on the fan (even though they last up to 10 years he says) and explained the little barometer tube thing that shows whether the system is working. If anything goes wrong, to call THEM, not the fan company - they will take care of the warrantee stuff. Followup test did show radon level went down to 1.9 pCi/L. Overall, the price was in the right RANGE, if a bit high. If you don't fix your radon problem, it devalues your home FAR greater than the price to fix the radon.
