We spoke with Mike a month previous to the work to describe the job and get an estimate. Mike was an hour late for that appointment. At that time, we gave him a five-day period in which we would be home to allow him to do the work. Then, the time came to do the work. Due to other jobs he was working on, Mike was finally able to come over on day four of the five-day window. Due to car trouble and transporting a crew to another job site, he arrived an hour later than he had said he would. He and another worker completed some of the work that day. When he left, he told me he would stain the trim for our window that night and have it ready in the morning. The next day, which was the last day of the five-day window we had provided him, Mike called at 11:30, an hour after he had said he would arrive, and told me he was waiting on the trim to dry; apparently he had not stained it the night before. Due to the damp weather we were having, it would be a while before the trim was ready. I heard from him next at 4:30, when he called and asked if he could come over to do more of the work on-site. He explained that he had been working on another job. With the window we had available to complete the work gone, I told him not to bother. In the end, it appeared that our small job was not as high a priority to him as his other, bigger jobs. I seemed to get more excuses than results from Mike, and I paid a lot for incomplete work.
