For some time, I have been wanting to commend Matt Armbruster for the work he performed for us in 2011. Now that I have joined Angie's List in 2012, I can provide Matt with the outstanding review he deserves. Before I contacted Matt, two neighbors had given me very good recommendations on Matt's Tree Service based on the work he did for them. Apparently, he was a neighborhood legend! ha!
Matt Armbruster met with me in April and provided me with an estimate of $1,800 for doing the work I wanted done. Matt and his crew of four workers arrived as scheduled the next month, verified with me the work to be performed, and finished the work quickly and professionally. My wife and I were extremely pleased with the work performed. We had requested that the tree trunks bve cut to ground level. I know from my own logging experience that cutting tree trunks so low tends to wear our chain saws quicker because dirt gets into the chains. But Matt and his crew cut the trees at ground level with no haggling. We were also very pleased that Matt and his crew took the time to fill in some ruts their logging equipment had cut into the ground, which was still quite wet from recent snows.
But what pleased us most of all was when we received the invoice for the work performed. Instead of the $1,800 bill that I expected based on Matt's estimate, the invoice was for only $1425 -- a savings of $375 or 20%. When I spoke to Matt, he said the job acutually required less time than he expected so he adjusted the estimate accordingly. Well, I have NEVER had a contractor bill me for less than their initial estimate. No wonder Matt's Tree Service is a neighborhood legend!
