"This was one of our bigger jobs for a Big Deal purchase. The structural work was interesting and we had a good time doing it."
"It's amazing what a wall, closet and soffitt removal will do to enlarge a very tiny kitchen, both visually and storage wise. This turned into such a wonderfully warm welcoming space, I wanted to stay. They were wonderful people to work with and we appreciated their instant response whenever we had a question or a problem."
"We had some problems with timely tile delivery, but we managed to get them a working shower- thanks to a shower curtain, while we waited nearly a month for the rest of the tile to arrive. Once it came, I promptly installed the remaining baseboard and shower curb tile and the shower door could be ordered. This tile was well worth the wait to complete their beautiful blue and white bathroom. Quite a transformation from the 70's remodel that we started with. I really appreciated their flexibility with a situation that neither of us could control."
"We checked with them before we left and got their ok on everything. I was never informed about any of these issues. The door opened and closed fine when I left and the garage door opener worked well. I even contacted them awhile later just to check on things and mention a review, and I never heard back from them. I can't fix an issue I don't know about."
"This was a rental house where they were using a tub for a shower and ruining the walls above the tile splash, so with an assortment of tiles from habitat provided by the owner, we got as close a match to the existing tile as we could. It took a bit of sorting and designing to make an appealing mix, but it turned out well and tenant and landlord both were pleased with the result."
The Homework crew was there everyday from 8-5 til the work was done. Project took about 6-8 weeks.
I highly recommend Homework Remodeling. I will ABSOLUTELY be calling them again for any future work.
"We had a great time with this basement remodel. He knew exactly what he wanted which made our job simple. We often work with people who want to do part of the job themselves and he was on top of things when it was his turn. This made getting the job complete that much easier. We are looking forward to the next project."
"We really enjoyed the challenge of this job. We like re-configuring spaces to entirely change the look. The tile design was one of the most complex designs and was very dramatic when it was completed. She was organized and helpful and easy to work with."
"We had more than a few conversations to make sure that we got the details right on this job and between her schedule and mine, there were a few delays between bathrooms, but the result was beautiful and even the reluctant husband was a fan by the time we were done. Making a half wall in the master shower with clear glass surround made the smaller shower seem spacious and was well worth the cost of doing. We look forward to the next project she tackles."
"We were glad for a sunny day to get to their mountain home and stop the roof leak before more damage was done. It is very frustrating to find a relatively new roof that was not installed properly to begin with. Bad contractors make us all look bad."
"He purchased a Big Deal and we installed new front and rear doors for him. We try very hard, but being a small company, with fair pricing and a great reputation, we can get very booked up and not get to jobs as quickly as we would like. However, once we are there, we do quality work and focus our full attention on the job at hand."
"We were glad that we could repair his doors and install a new one for him. He had limited availability, but we managed to work the schedule out so that we could meet his time at home."
The price was competitive (cheaper than IKEA and I didn't like the IKEA contractor). Their plumber was great though I wasn't thrilled with the electrician she uses though he did excellent quality work.
The house looks amazing. I will certainly be using them again for any other GC kind of work.
"Wonderful transformation to this house. We appreciated his organization and attention to detail in helping us get the job going and handle any issues that arose. Working with people like this really makes our job easier."
"This shower turned out quite glamorous. I was very pleased with the results. Working so far from home is always a challenge to get people scheduled and make sure that all materials are on the jobsite, but we completed this job in record time and met their very tight schedule, so their house sitter would have a working shower in the suite while they were away."
"We enjoy working on older houses and this was a very old dilapidated kitchen with a very non-functional design. It is so rewarding to see the transformation."
"They contacted me when they decided they had lived with their half-remodel long enough. There were lots of little disconnected details left, but we connected all the dots and ended up with a beautiful finished product they can enjoy for years to come."
"This was one of our favorite projects of all time. We really enjoyed the challenge and diversity of building a staircase and bookcase in one. We appreciated his flexibility in actual building design, since he is a design professional. We also were very pleased with the outcome on his rental. We built stairs on 2 sides of the porch to eliminate unsightly conditions beneath in order to sell the house. Came out beautiful and the neighbors especially loved it. We got many favorable comments."
"We do our best to ensure customer satisfaction, and in 20+ years, we have only a handful of people who have remained unsatisfied, but sometimes it just isn't possible. They purchased a 12 hour coupon and we gave them 13 hours of work. I informed her that we would not finish in the time they had purchased and offered extra hours, but she informed me in writing that they would finish anything we didn't accomplish. In response to the claim that we were unresponsive, they contacted us immediately after purchasing the coupon and we promptly arranged for a visit to their house 40 miles away to look at their project. I penciled in the job 4 different times, but they were never ready. Months later, her husband, (different last name) contacted me about some work on a commercial property. I could not identify what the coupon was, because the address and names were different. When she finally emailed me, I connected the dots, and we promptly scheduled time to come sand and stain a deck at their office. We gave them 13 hours, didn't subtract time for the initial estimate, which was our agreement, and did our best but did not finish. Since her only solution was for us to come finish the job for free, I had to leave it as it stands."
We had HR create a new shower with a corner seat and shampoo niche using glass tile and pebble for the shower base which they did fantastically. For the kitchen, HR removed the old mess of mixed counters we had and installed oak butcher block on all counters as well as a new sink and new cooktop/hood system. The team worked very h****** the counters to get it right and installed all of the appliances perfectly. We chose slate for the floor and glass/travertine tile for the backsplash and the HR team all of it perfectly. They measured and tested all installation before completing the final work to ensure it was perfect. Cyndi the owner does all of the time and she is fantastic at it and completed the work in a timely manner.
For the backporch, HR removed a wood and galvanized lean-to the previous owner had built and was attached to the house, No damage was caused to the house and all of the debris was cleaned up properly. HR had a subcontractor build a wall to close off an enclosed area of the porch we had already and that is great too. The stucco work matches the house perfectly and looks original.
Overall, HR and their subs did great work and at a great price! They were always friendly and communicated all aspects of the job so we knew what was happening. Our dogs really miss them too, so that shows you how nice they are. We want to wish them all the best and we will definitely be calling them for other renovations we have.
"Our entire company enjoyed this job. They were wonderful people (and pets) to work with and the variety of materials and scope of work made this an interesting project. When we were done, the transformation was incredible. We look forward to working with them again."
They showed up on time and were very professional. It wasn't easy (it took the about 3 hours) but it was well worth it. All communication was very easy and always had a quick quick reply and answered all my questions. Top notch and wonderful to work with. My daughter loves her new doors. Happy daughter=satisfied customer!
"When he initially contacted us, he was very concerned about what it would take to install a door on this space. We were very pleased to be able to provide a custom door at a reasonable price. When we got there, the opening was taller and thicker than we had anticipated, but we framed and sheetrocked the top, put a jamb extension on and got the job done. Happy customer=happy remodeler."
A big bonus is that she likes animals, is very easy to work with, and has a very positive attitude.
"We were very glad that we caught several safety issues missed by her inspector and she now she doesn't have to lean while she walks down her deck stairs or worry about it falling down. Taking apart the stairway and adjusting for the sinking (and someone else's failed coverup) was a real challenge. We were very happy that we could enact the repairs without the expense to her of rebuilding an elaborate deck. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the mountains with this wonderful woman and her pets and I consider her a friend as well."
